ESPN Reports that he is talking with Butch Davis, Cut may well be the next OC and now Kippy Brown's name is being tossed around.

Note that all of the above are fully capable of being HC candidates.

Phil's idea of loyalty also means union-like lack of accountablity and competition at the Asst Coach level. Looks like Hamilton noticed and has decided to pick up the heat under Phil's Phat Tookus.

If I were a betting man which I am, I would say that this just nothing more than giving lip service to a "national search for an OC". They have to try to make it legitimate which is laughable. I think that they really believe that we are stupid. I guess in some cases that is true.

I don't think that Tennessee can even afford to buy Fulmer out right now. What would they have to give him?? 4.5 million or something to that tune? It's not going to happen. We were broke coming into the football season and I don't think our 4-6 record has helped much.

Great point OWB. They just now paid off Jerry Green, and still have a couple of years to take care of Buzz Peterson's buyout.

On one hand I'd like to ditto what Patrick said, OTOH Hamilton did one heckuva job with Bruce Pearl. Maybe, just maybe.......naw

Frankly I wonder how they plan on paying Cut???

Maybe they should take it out of Phil' salary

Patrick, I agree with you.

If the Vol Nation wants to believe there is someone else out there besides Cutcliffe as our OC, so be it....the media circus koolaid in the UTAD plastic cups is quite strong.

This is just some PR stunt by the athletic department.

I am just disgusted with the whole thing.

Do you have a link for this?

This makes no sense at all. The Cutcliffe deal is almost inked and Butch Davis is a defensive coach.

There's only one reason to be talking to Butch Davis. He's not going to be an assistant. If Hamilton is actually asking permission to speak with him, he should go ahead and announce he's firing Fulmer. Otherwise, you're just putting your head coach in a position where he has to recruit with the buzzards obviously circling.

i want to see at least one article. i doubt phil gets fired. i want to see something because all i hear is speculation.

I think MH is tougher than people give him credit for.

He made what looks to be a great hire in Pearl.
