Although philosophically I disgaree witha lot of his politics, he was the right man for the job at the time. Sometimes that's the most important thing.

I'll add that one of Nancy Reagan's SS agents shot himself in the hip.

I guess that is newsworthy.

He was the right man for the job at any time. Had the Dems in Congress not spent $2 for every $1 that resulted from his tax policies, our nation would be on a firm financial footing right now. Unfortunately he had to compromise on budgets to get the military spending to push the USSR over the brink.

Two myths in one. Nice work.

Let me ask you guys this.....

If a president lucks out and is part of a technology boom, that helps employ and educate people on what is going to happen with our future, does that make them a better president?? What about the other end, where they are at the end of it??

Reagan got in right before technology took off, and it helped with his presidency. Clinton was in during the height of the web boom, and people refer to him as one of the greatest presidents of all-time.

People need to look at policies during and after this time, which is the key indicator if they left a successful president or not. Seems to me that around the early 2000's, we moved from more of the Reagan policies, to more of the Clinton policies. So, where Clinton enjoyed much success from Reagan's policies, it seems as if the end of Bush's 2nd term and in to Obama's 1st term, we are reaping the lack of benefits from the Clinton era. Most intelligent people know that policies that president's help shape don't really effect people until 6-10 years down the road, because of implementation.

Seems as if we can thank Reagan and curse Clinton at this point.

Proof please. I won't look it up again but I've posted the gov'ts own revenue reports several times. I believe I've even posted them in response to your posts. During his administration revenues were just shy of doubling. utgibbs and others have posted the charts showing the exponential deficit growth. IOW's, revenues went up... spending went up much more.

(In case you didn't know "law"gator, all spending bills must originate in the House... a body held by Dems for all 8 of RR's years)

Clinton actually did a few good things after the epiphany that the "age of big gov't is over". He pursued a strong dollar policy which acts very similar to a supply side, investor tax cut. He kept the GOP from spending money on their pet projects while they prevented him from spending more on his.

There's no question the technology revolution really helped the economies of the 80's and 90's.... but give Clinton at least credit for not trying to kill the golden goose. The same certainly can't be said about the current POTUS.

the only reason he didn't kill the golden goose was that he got waxed in the midterm elections.
