I, for one, thought he had a decent game. With Coker out, and Foster still a bit "gimpy"- Hardesty got us just enough yards on the ground to support the Vol air attack. He busted only 1 big one that I can remember, but I thought it was a semi-solid, notable preformance for him.

He really needs to work on yards-after-contact. Seems like
he gets dropped everytime he hits the line.

If our O-line was good, he wouldn't get hit at the line of scrimmage.

Honestly, I don't think he's 100% yet. Sometimes a major injury like he had takes 1 1/2 - 2 years to fully recover from.

He had a huge block on the 3rd down pass to Swain. He is a good blocker but our RB's are having huge problems running the ball.

I honestly dont understand why..

i might be the only thinking this... but i think our running game is down not because lack of perfromance, but lack of using it... 23 rushing attempts last night and 21 against bama total... how many times has UT had players that get 25-30 touches on their own in a game in years past?

well, it seems like our O-line is geared more toward protecting Ainge, which they have done in an outstanding fashion. But opening holes for our backs is another story... Foster usually fights for every yard, Coker uses his blistering speed to get thru unscathed. Neither backs rely THAT much on our line- which isn't good.

I think Hardesty did alright. I think we've pretty much abandoned establishing the run and at this point the only goal is to set up the playaction game.

I think we tried to establish the run early on but once we got behind we had to abandon it. Ainge was on and we had to go to the air. I think from the moment Coker went down, we have seen less running plays.

I did notice that Hardesty was hitting the hole harder than in previous games, a positive development. And yes, his block on the blitzer that play was outstanding.

He seems just a step slow, but that one step is making all the difference.

I also think part of it is that we seem to be trying to run a lot out of shotgun on draws. It didnt seem like we lined up too often in some power running formations (i-form, ace).

His knee still swells up so he can't be 100%. I think that Hardesty is doing the best he can at this point given all of the variables.

Yup. He had a soild game considering he may have been on the feild 15% or of the snaps taken. He had a few good runs, a good gain on a HB screen pass and an outstanding blitz pick up

Our biggest weapons are our wr's. I have no problem reducing the running attack if it gets meachem, swain & smith more touches. :dance2:
