Harrison Barnes will return to Chapel Hill in 2012 along with teammates Tyler Zeller and John Henson. All were possible 1st-Round Selections in the upcoming draft with Barnes and Henson almost guaranteed being lottery picks. The trio's return puts UNC in great position to be the preseason #1 team going into the 2012 basketball season.

He states how much he is blessed and how his #1 priority is to win the 2012 NC at UNC. UNC also brings back PG Marshall. In fact I don't think they lose one single contributor from their 2011 Eiite-8 Squad so I think they are definitely the favorites for 2012. Thoughts?

I'm surprised he's staying. May have something to do with the possibility of a lockout. I think UNC definitely goes in as the early favorite.

Actually helps them.

Indeed. Not calling either of them marginal, but this is certainly a year where the marginal prospects could cash in. Very weak draft. Money will always be there for Barnes, and Henson for that matter. I'm most suprised that Zeller decided to return. Definitely would have been a lottery pick this year, next year I'm not so certain.

Was Zeller projected as a lottery pick if he chose to enter? I honestly do not know.

That would be surprising because he is so thin and would easily be thrown around under the basket in the league...

No, Zeller wasn't. I think he was projected more along the lines of late 1st round-early 2nd round.

Barnes and Henson would have both been lottery picks though.

If they are all staying, North Carolina will be tough to beat.

It will make them very tough to beat. Because with Barnes, Zeller, and Henson returning they also keep Kendall Marshall, McDonald, Bullock, Strickland, and a Top-3 recruiting class.

UNC will be very tough to beat and now will almost definitely be the preseason #1 team. The only way they have any competition is depending on what UK's players do. I believe Liggons, Jones, and Knight have still yet to decide on their NBA careers. If they all come back there is no telling who will be picked higher.

The only player they lose is PF Justin Knox who averaged 15 minutes, about 4 points and about 3 rebounds...and they replace him with PF James McAdoo...consensus top 5 player nationally and arguably the best player at his position...I'd say that's a pretty favorable tradeoff for UNC

Agreed. McAdoo will be a beast. Obvious upgrade to Knox. They are bringing in Hairston too. He looks like a player. If UNC can play with the same team chemistry they played down the stretch last year then they will be hard to beat. I really liked how Kendall Marshall ran the team from the PG position. Add in 2 All-Conference post players in Zeller and Henson and then a playmaking scorer in Barnes and UNC really has a team that is capable to win it all.

and you gave me hell for starting a thread about this same subject...

Gave you hell? All I said was "Old News". And besides I was only joking. I posted it when the news first came out this morning on ESPN about 8 hours before you did. Just giving you a hard time man haha.
