Hart should make his offer to both Strong and Fedora... and give them 1 hour to respond. The first to accept gets the job. If neither responds, or both turn him down, Hart needs to do the same with Tressell and Petrino.

Tressel has a 5 year show cause...bad bad bad bad bad bad idea. I would however drop $4 million in Petrino's lap and then laugh my way to the SEC Championship game in about 3 years.

I love how on the radio this morning, I believe it was Will West, said his gf's mother would never root/back Petrino (as other middle aged women wouldnt) because of what he's done.......Good, that more sandwich making time for them! :)

Fedora would only increase sales of Red Bull in ET. Why the Vol love for that guy?

Good grief. I'm so glad OP isn't the one in charge of negotiations. Brainless.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take $4 million for Petrino. Actually, I would be pissed if they paid him that much.

I would not be against him coming to the hill as we would be back sooner rather than later, but no way should UT give him that kind of money after his issues.

GBO VFL!!!

Yeah, I guess we all get a little brainless at times. I just don't like the way Gundy and Strong seem to have been stringing UT and their current programs along for more money.

That is why I suggested that Hart should make his offer based on what he thinks each coach is worth. If the coach does not respond in a reasonable amount of time (and really, 1 hour is perhaps a bit unreasonable)... then go on to the next guy(s). I really don't know whats so brainless about that. I do not want Hart to do a knee-jerk hire like Hamilton did, but for recruiting purposes, he does need to make the hire relatively soon.

It's my understanding that Tressell would just have to sit out the first five games and the program that hires him would have a one-year bowl ban. He, Petrino, and Fulmer are perhaps the best available coaches who are not currently coaching. Each of these three men would be good/bad hires depending on each person's perspective on the UT coaching situation, ethics, etc.

If the 3 amigos all go pro, we will not see a bowl next year anyway. Tressell wouldn't be a terrible hire, my only negative on him is that he was owned by the SEC while at Ohio State. Petrino is worth 2 million tops with all his "issues". Fulmer the same maybe a little more because he has been unemployed for 5 years. Just my $.02.

This whole mess is on Hart. He wasted a couple weeks jacking around with no information, now most other schools have their coach or the coach got a raise.

Hart needs to step it up or GTFO.

Damn Bammer AD

Definitely Petrino. That guy left Louisville, Atlanta Falcons, and Arkansas in bad shape. And the guy went out on his wife and hired the chick.

That's my opinion.

That's not true at all...Well, maybe the Falcons part. Louisville was a basketball school before Petrino ever got there. While he didnt exactly turn them into a National Title contender, Louisville enjoyed some of their best years while he was there. Once he left the place went to hell. You cant blame that on him, you gotta blame the people that were brought in to replace him. Same can be said for Arkansas. Easily a top 5 (if not top 3) team in the nation last year. All because of Petrino. Sure his personal life cost him his job but you stick Petrino on the sidelines this year and not John L. Smith and we're talking about a completely different Arkansas team. You can say "well his mistake is what caused it"...but you can pin just as much blame on the fact John L. Smith is a crappy coach in this day and age.

I stand by my case that you give Petrino the offer. You plug in buyouts much like Arkansas did. If he wants to bail in the middle of the night for the NFL or a better BCS school, he owes you $18 Million. If he does something like bang Heather Harrington on youtube or does anything to embarrass the University, you put in an out clause that gives you the right to fire him with no money due.

Do more research on Tressel's penalties and then come back and edit your post.

You could get Petrino for 2.5m right now. You could save the rest for assistants.

As an Arkansas fan your AD is clueless to pass on Petrino. I assure you he wants to win more now than ever and that is very dangerous at a program like Tennessee.

This...Petrino would know this is his last chance, get him in here and we wil win. WE all know the Vols can take some time to get going, but once they start winning, we sustain very good for years and run through the SEC. Look at our facilities, these coachs that turned us down are not thinking long term.

You should hire BP and put a LARGE one way buyout clause in the contract with a strong morality clause. I would also make the contract so air tight there is no wiggle room. I would make a one way buyout in the amount of 15m for the duration of the contract. I would throw 2.5 plus 5m for top assistants. You could put together likely one of the best assistant staffs in the country. Saban and staff make 9.3 which means his assistants make 4m. You would have an extra 1m to play with and lure away top assistants.

Now...the only problem with BP, which can be good and bad, is he is a dictator. Will be hard to find coaches to coach with him but if the money is right they might.

If you guys go after Jones, Fedora, etc..and leave BP on the board you are going to get what you deserve. Just be warned now. You know what it is like in the SEC with a up and comer at a program that has almost no instate access to SEC talent. We at Arkansas are in the same boat unlike most of the top SEC schools we play against. You need a good talent evaluator, developer and X/O coach.

Also...once BP got things rolling by year 3 at Arkansas we were WHIPPING Carolina and beating UGA...both at their place. We rolled through the SEC those years only losing to Bama, LSU and to eventual national champ Auburn. He did at Arkansas what hadn't been done since the late 80's. Took us to our first BCS bowl. Dominated current KSU team in the cotton bowl. Just look what happened after he was fired. Program crumbled. That should be a testament to how good a coach he is.

You are taking a risk with off the field marital issues but right now I am not sure Tennessee is in such a place they can have their cake and eat it too.

Best of Luck.

PS....Clay Travis can go to hell for what he said about our program and fans.
