I am SURE that they will allow all other religions to have their month of opening the meetings with prayer also.

The one thing the citizens of Hartford can rest in peace upon, they WILL NOT have to be worried about being sued by the ACLU!!

So much for separation of church and state. I expect the Obama administration to voice their concern now.

Where is that Wisconsin group? Oh my bad. They are busy putting up inflammatory billboards in Georgia. Strange how separation of church and state is limited to one faith...

I'm aware this was supposed to take place "just too close" to September 11th, but Lailatul-Qadr and Eid-Al-Fitr have been dates set for centuries, if not longer. The latter is a very significant holiday... as it is the end of Ramadan.

Thanks for the history lesson. But what did that have to do with the story? Nothing.

How is that spiting Christianity? Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Christianity aren't under fire from the American people right now.

Seriously? Tell me the last time a Christian was asked to give an invocation there.

And last I checked, Jews, Buddhists, and Hindus aren't trying to kill Americans either. Strange how peoples perspectives are based on actions....

"Some who protested said the timing was simply too close to the September 11th anniversary."

Did you run out of bananas this morning, Dr Zeus? You seem pissy.

Tell me the last time Christians came under fire from half the freaking country.

That second bit is so ignorant... as per usual, you're judging the entire Islamic religion by the actions of a terribly extreme sect of that religion.

Again, what did your list of religious celebrations have to do with 9/11 or the expressed reason they called for this? Not pissy. Just curious as to why you even mentioned what you did.

Because, actions that occurred nearly a decade ago should not dictate the timing of holidays that have been in place for a much, much longer period of time.

How is this so difficult?

What did this story have to do with Muslim holidays? Nothing. The whole point was to "show solidarity" over the whole Koran burning and a certain facility being built. not sure why you brought holidays into the equation.

Then I guess neither of us are sure why the article brought up the g'damned date of the Al Qaeda attack.

Because some of the people protesting this said this was the reason why. The reporter stated what was said as one of the reasons people protested this. And the reporter then gave a rebuttal to that from a Muslim. That along with the original intent being some warm and fuzzy PC inclusiveness that violated their own standards had nothing at all to do with Muslim holidays. Seems you took something out of the air and threw it into the argument. And I simply asked why you did that.

I'm going back to the original reason for anyone having a problem with the prayer segment yesterday. If you feel as though your religion was shunned, then make a holiday on that day and quit whining. It was the final day of the feast that signified the end of Ramadan. I'm sure Hartford does something special for Christmas and Hannukah without any pissing or moaning from other religions.

So sorry that a tiny group of extremists attacked America in the midst of a Muslim holiday, but if somebody blew up the Mall of America on Christmas, we'd eventually resume that holiday and everything that follows.

Then take that up with that discussion. This story had nothing to do with a holiday. The reason and the opposition expressed in the articles focused on those and not a holiday. The whole month of September prayers and your "final day of the feast" connect how?

If you're sure they do have something from other groups by all means show us. I'd love to see anywhere in the NE that allows a Christmas tree, menorah, etc. displayed on government grounds or at government meetings. Giving a full month of meetings opened with prayer when the same mouths decry separation of church and state are the issue here. Clearly these same people did this with the MOST noble intentions.

And tiny group? Strange that this "tiny group" as you say has our troops deployed all over the world fighting them.

Would you like to take this opportunity to explain the 10 million dead Christians slain in the name of islamic jihad during the twentieth century???

I'm aware this was supposed to take place "just too close" to September 11th, but Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kipper have been dates set for centuries, if not longer. (? )

The latter is a very significant holiday... as it it is the day the Jewish promise to renew Kosher attacks intended to kill all non Jews.

FYP.

And I didn't even mention those evil Amish people.
