Has anyone ever noticed this weird trend between us and South Carolina?

Granted it shouldn't matter, when all is right in the world we should easily beat them every year, but going back 10 years, look at this trend:

2013: Day game at Neyland
2014: Night game at SC
2015: Night game at Neyland (outlier)
2016: Night game at SC
2017: Day game at Neyland
2018: Night game at SC
2019: Day game at Neyland
2020: Night game at SC
2021: Day game at Neyland
2022: Night game at SC
2023: TBD, but I guarantee it's a day game at Neyland.

That's pretty frustrating. Every time we play there it's a night game, every time except one that they've come to Neyland it's been a day game.

Wow. Glad you researched it, I wouldn't have believed it .. Conspiracy? Sure looks funky. Just who does the scheduling in the SEC Office? That might get you somewhere. Personally, I don't think the current or previous "Commissioner" had any love for UT. Just something you can sense.

South Carolina athletic department knows that their program is measured by that game. It means a lot to them because they try and pass off the idea that their program is as equipped for success as ours is to their fanbase. It keeps "false hope" alive to them when they beat us.

T.V. determines all kickoff times.

It's not the SEC. Times are decided 2 weeks in advance by TV network priority. There's no conspiracy.

I’ll always think of USC by them going winless in my junior year at UT (like didn’t win a game all season) and us beating the crap out of them on my birthday that year. I’m from Charlotte and have quite a few USC fans as friends, they love to talk crap…til you bring that season up.

Some of my favorite games I’ve been too have been late October night games against USC. 2009 is the first that comes to mind.

It seems to me the timing is about the best ratings given the slate of games on a given day. I perceive this as a revenge game and Volfans are ready. Will a rowdy Neyland crowd at night in a revenge game be appealing to viewers? I would be beyond thrilled if that happens. But I am thinking If uscjr continues to lay eggs every week, the likehood this could be a night game diminishes quickly.

Here's question, how many of SC home games are played at night?

They'll beat Furman this week, then lose to Georgia next week. Then they have Mississippi State before Tennessee. Need them to beat MSU if this if going to be a night game

I beg to differ. I expect we come in third behind Clem first. and Ga. second..

What a “conspiracy” lol.

In 2013, we’re coming off a coaching change and in the middle of a 5-7 season. We kicked off early.

In 2017, we’re coming off a coaching change and in the middle of a 5 win season. We kicked off early.

In 2019, we started the year 2-5. We kicked off early.

In 2021, we were coming off a coaching change and in the middle of a 7 win season. We kicked off early.

Anybody notice any common denominators in those years when we got early kickoffs? A couple of those years we’re lucky they didn’t make us kick off at 3am on A&E.
