Has anyone heard any practice notes or info lately?

I know they are gearing up for the Italy trip. The news from practices seems eerily quiet compared to practices under Coach Pearl.

I know I attended almost 50 different practices over the years under Coach Pearl, and only attended the open practice last year that was publicised.

Anyone have any inside info on how the players are developing? Who's the most improved so far?

I was wondering if it was just me. I thougth it had been really quite considering the trip starts at the end of the week. Be sad if basketball goes into lock down all the time.

What day do they leave for the trip? And will there be any coverage for it?

I know Mike Griffith had a pretty good repoir with the old staff. I guess the new beat writer doesn't have the access that Griffith or Wes Rucker had during the Pearl years.

I think yesterday was the first practice in a few days, and they're going to practice everyday leading up to their departure.

Maybe well eventually get some reporting!

There was a free read posted on Scout yesterday. Had a few quotes from the players about the trip but nothing with any real substance.

He made me roll my eyes quite a bit, but Griff did a good job covering the team and put more out there than what it seems like we're seeing currently. I may end up missing him.

Here's the link to the article mentioned above.

Last thing I seen was this

Vols keep Vandy as 'rival' in SEC's surprise schedule switch » GoVolsXtra

Didn't look to see if already posted but basically says that Moore is pushing hard for the backup PG minutes and doing well.

"You have to be stronger, quicker, faster," said Moore, who has stepped over to shooting guard and small forward during stretches of UT's pre-Italy practices. "It's a lot of work on me. I just focus on getting used to the game — the speed of it and just knowing what to do with the ball at the right time."

Gold is about 90% and Maymon is fine.

I also like this...

Italian Seasoning: Martin will use a broad rotation in the Vols' four exhibition games against Italian professional teams. The UT coach said no one will play more than 20 minutes in a single game and every player on the roster will see the court.

Additionally, Martin plans to play an assortment of different player combinations and won't use the same starting lineup for any of the four games.

Practice Begins As Basketball Vols Prep For Italy - 07/16/2012 - Chattanoogan.com

Looks like they leave sunday morning (Aug 5th). as far as any coverage, i don't know. Last time they went there wasn't any, but internet streaming wasn't as common then as it is now (seems like that trip was at least 3 years ago)

I think the last over seas trip was 5 years ago. They are only allowed to go every 4 years. CCM elected not to go last year being his first year here. Time flies....

Seems right. That was pearls 3rd season right? That was a pretty good year.
