Has college basketball ever had this much parity?

Purdue is my favorite to win it all simply due to Edy, but after that there are 12-15 other teams that have a legit chance to the Final Four and beyond. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen this kind of parity in the game. I’m also not sure I like it—for example I believe the 2018-2019 would roll this current bunch but the they’re in that 12-15 team mix.

After the game, Jay Bilas said "Rick Barnes has talked to me a lot about... the thing coaches worry a lot about this year is, 'Is my team going to make shots this particular game?'"

What stood out to me the most in that quote was the "this year" ...as if this year has been unusual.

Educators are dealing with so many unique differences among kids, because of their experiences during COVID lockdowns and masking. I can't see a direct connection for players' having more hot/cold shooting... but maybe guys missed more shooting time (and with it, consistency) than I'm aware.

I actually think our team is well constituted to play Purdue. I believe our gang of big men can keep him in enough check that we could beat them. I really believe we match up well with them.

Speaking of parity, Purdue is down 15 to Maryland with under 6 minutes left. Yeah,it's definitely been a year for parity.

Welp... when all your best players play ONE year then split... this is what you get. Most successful teams now are less talented, but more seasoned veterans that know how to play as a team. The product isn't nearly as "flashy" but it's just as competitive, IMO.

Ehh, 'Cuse hasn't been good for a few years now (hasn't won 20 games since 18-19). Boeheim needs to hang it up.
He definitely should. Do we even know what his contract is since Syracuse is a private institution? I thought I remember him saying he wanted to coach until he is 80 but who knows 🤷‍♂️

Also, the NBA is working on a new CBA to lower the draft-eligibility age from 19 to 18, which would allow some high schoolers to get drafted once again. This may help the college game and see less of the one-and-dones. You will still see them if kids have great freshman years but we should see less of them if they are able to come to this new agreement.

It’s crazy this year. I think Purdue is the best team and I could see them winning it all or losing the first game. I think the champ will be a 7th seed or higher.

I think they’re letting him coach until he doesn’t want to anymore.

Houston could play for a national title in their own backyard. Could you imagine a Final Four there with the Cougars, Texas, and Kansas? Ticket prices would go through the roof.
