Has our offense slowed down this year?

I remember a stat last year and early into this season we were the “fastest” team meaning we play the most plays per minute than any other team. I honestly don’t know where to check that stat, but objectively watching the games, it feels we have slowed the pace considerably.

This is what’s great about our offense. We can speed it up as needed, or dial it back for a more traditional approach down the field. Anyone else fee we’ve kinda slowed our pace from last year?

Pace is used to get the matchups they want and then keep it that way.

Once we have what we want we show our formation and then shift to our advantage.

Run, run then pass all as quick as possible hinders the DL from being effective when it comes to pass rush.

Our average should be way down due to milking clock for most 4th qtrs.

they have slowed. Last year they scored so fast they had linemen fake injuries on the extra point to buy the defense some time. They haven't had to do that yet this year!

Captain obvious here but it's Hooker making the call at the line based on what he sees. Over emphasize the wides we smash you with the ground game. Try to play it conventionally we burn you with the passing game. I LOVE this team!!

The biggest reason it's slower is that we're getting back to the line quickly and then looking to the sideline for the play. The defense still can't substitute, because we can always snap the ball immediately and catch them with their pants down. So we get the benefit of going fast and still have time to weigh our options and come up with the best play in any given situation.

I am guessing part of the secret sauce is the width of the field we use with our evidently unusually wide splits of the receivers. Guessing it is easier to count the proverbial number in the box when 4 to 5 guys are having to go to or outside the numbers. Takes away some players ability to get into the running lanes we use.

We're still going fast but I do think Huepel has become more situational in how he uses his uptempo offense. I've noticed that he also bleeds clock in certain situations when needed. That's one of the biggest differences I've noticed this year VS last year.

When you are ahead it is nice to be able to slow down. As we are for much of the second halves of games. Or for that matter first halves!

I love it when they're going at a medium (for us) pace then speed up and catch the defense with too many men on the field. Seeing Stoops bouncing up and down like Yosemite Sam on that illegal substitution had me rolling.

Stoops feeling the same as Saban a couple weeks ago. I love that other coaches hate us!

I remember last year while at the game, the offense was going so fast that you couldn't even watch the replays on the jumbotron or you would miss the next play.

This gets in your head too, look at Stoops last night let alone the players because you cant count on anything with this offense, at least if we were going fast you could count on that but now, we go fast, we go slow, we dink and dunk then we go for the jugular, its genius and Heupel keeps finding new tweaks and variations to make it more difficult to figure out.

Head coaches with a defensive background lose their crap. So far Heupel’s offense has been the unsolvable puzzle for teams. Georgia should give us a very good test as to just how good this team is. Hopefully Kirby will be having repeated melt downs on the sideline as well.

Our 3rd quarter offense in most of our games this year has been subpar. I’d like to see a lot more production in the 3rd quarter than what we’ve been getting.
