No, when members of the Rooney family had to sell their shares of the Steelers in 2008 because they also owned horse racing interests, Haslam bought a small share in hopes it would provide an edge to buying a franchise of his own when one became available. Similar to what David Tepper did whe he bought a minority share of the Steelers before buying Carolina however he was a Pittsburgh native.Isn't Jimmy a life long Steeler's fan? Seems odd that he should own a team from Pittsburgh's same division.
