Thats the interview with the AD Sam Baker

but after three seasons and going 18-15 Hatcher is gone.

The firing comes on the cusp of a win over the citadel.

Maybe we will finally go back to what made us great, the option.

Baker needs to be fired as well. He is the core of the problem... He mentioned not wanting Southern to be a turnstile for coaches... Well, he's quickly making it just that. I imagine someone from the Paul Johnson tree of coaching will be tapped. Heck, dust off Sewak and see what he can do now.

I had heard through the grapevine that we are goin after someone on pj's staff. The only problem we had with sewak was defense, that's it. The year he was fired we were in the playoffs, but sam baker needs to be tarred and feathered imo

This year was definitely a disappointment, but there's a of politics at work here. As big a disaster as the program was when they hired Hatcher, it's hard to believe they ran him after 3 years.

Van Gorder was a mess. Sewaks downfall was lack of defense. Van Gorder being a solid DC was probably seen as a savior.. Little did they know. The next coach needs to be given at least 4 yrs to recruit and establish his scheme. I really think someone from the Paul Johnson coaching tree will be tapped... Statesboro and the Alumni base have an affinity for the tripple option. Its time it makes its way back.

yah, the TO is our bread and butter, i mean thats what Erk established and we won 6 championships with.

I think Baker was trying to do something to cover his own tail because of whats about to come down in feb about the basketball program

interesting. well, lets hope they hire someone who can come in and turn things around, in both the football program, and the athletic department.

From what some GSU people have told me, the President is leaving December 1st and the expectation is that the AD's days are numbered. I think most people thought that Hatcher would be held over, but apparently he made some comments to the ATL Touchdown Club that the administration didn't like regarding how difficult it's been to recruit due to GSU's SAT requirement.

So Hatcher had a President trying to turn GSU into Duke and a core group of meat head supporters down there that have seen the movie "The Program" one too many times.

I seem to recall alot of Techsters clamoring for Hatcher before they settled on Paul Johnson. Any chance some other school gives Hatcher a shot, or is he damaged goods for now?

hatcher will be a good coach, he just needs to be somewhere that he can get a chance, at GSU the expectations are really high to win, and win fast, and the boosters arent paitent.

Dr. Grube is retiring, and i think Sam Baker is gonna be gone after the change (i hope at least)
