1/2s
Maurice Miller 6-1/183 Memphis, TN
Tony Neysmith 6-4/196 Norcross, GA
Brockeith Pane 6-2/195 Dallas, TX
E'twaun Moore 6-3/170 East Chicago, IN

2/3s
Zach Graham 6-5/200 Lawrenceville, GA
Jamar Moore 6-5/180 Thomasville, GA

3/4s
Orane Chin 6-7/205 Miami, FL
Michael Sanchez 6-8/220 Springdale, AR
Alex Tyus 6-8/210 Cincinnati, OH

4/5s
Chris Barnes 6-8/210 College Park, GA
Nayal Koshwal 6-9/230 Chicago, IL
J.J. Hickson 6-8/230 Marietta, GA
Tearon Hill 6-9/230 Carrolton, TX

Right now, these are the main names. Pane, Chin, and Koshwal are all new names for most Vol Fans since they are just now showing interest. E'twaun Moore, J.J. Hickson, and Alex Tyus are showing interest but are being patient and not narrowing their lists down alot. IMO, our top 4 best chances are probably Mo Miller, Jamar Moore, Michael Sanchez, and Chris Barnes.

Add Keenen Ellis, Jon Sexton, DeAndre Bynum, and Eric Frederick to the list and it becomes almost all encompassing. As always, the list will change considerably by the time everyone leaves Vegas this summer.

Ahhh, I didn't know Ellis was looking at UT. I doubt we'd get him anyways cuz I see him following Mayo and Walker. I don't know how good he is either, especially since he can piggy back off of those two. He definitely needs to gain weight.

As for Bynum and Sexton, if we are talking about kids in state, I'd put Miller and Culpepper ahead of Bynum or Sexton. Any of the 4 would be nice though.

And I don't know anything about the last guy you listed.

Hill is actually attending Cincinnati Harmony Prep. Our recruitment of Hill and Tyus will be directly effected by the Cincinnati coaching situation. If they retain Andy Kennedy or hire Carl Hobbs, it will be difficult to pull either kid out of the city. Also, same kind of situation with Keenan Ellis. A good hire by IU will make things tough on us.

With Ellis, it depends on what "package deal" story you believe. If you buy the Bob Huggins version, Ellis has never really been mentioned as following them, because Jason Bennett is expected to sign with Huggins this spring, provided he takes a job. The Mike Davis version, however, does include Ellis.

I'm not really expecting us to get any of those 3 anyways. I'd say if we take 3 kids(either we lose Passley and sign 1 this class or keep Passley and sign 0), I'd say we will push hard for Miller, Neysmith, or E. Moore as a guard(Pane may be a cinderella in this race), push hard for J. Moore or Sanchez as a swing(Chin may be a cinderella in that race), and push hard for Hickson or Barnes as a big man(Koshwal may be a cinderella in this race). Tyus would be great but for some reason, I don't think he is interested in us that much. I know we have alot of interest from Miller, J. Moore, and Barnes and we have a good relationship with Sanchez's coaches.

It does my heart good to finally see UT getting recognized as a major player on the national recruiting circuit. I was tired of getting everone else's leftovers. If we make a good showing the tourney some of these kids will be beating down our doors trying to get in.

Yeah but Pearl is taking those leftovers and beating the guys who passed on UT. Just thinking about what he is going to do w/ more highly-regarded talent puts a stupid looking grin on my face. :biggrin2:

I think Tennessee may make a strong push for Lawrence Gilbert out of Houston Texas here real soon with the situation that has developed with Passley. He has really been impressing people a lot lately. A lot of very well respected analysts are saying some very nice things about him. Was discussing him with Justin Young of Rivals.com the other day and he said that Gilbert could "no doubt" play for Tennessee and would be a really good late pickup. I think he will likely be a Top 100 prospect with the last rankings come out.

We are currently leading or right at the top for his services along with Auburn and Marquette. With Passley's situation, we are now even in more need of a guy fo rthe 3 spot and Gilbert will fit hat bill perfectly, IMO. We had been staying in constant contact with him before Passley, so I think we could now see that go to the next level. He is definitely a guy to watch as being a possible late signee. I think that could certainly end up happening.

He is actually from Louisiana but was displaced by Hurrican Katrina.

I think Passley and Smith will get their decision handed to them on March 13.
The initial appearance is a formality. I'd be surprised if any resolution comes that quickly.
