It has been amazing to see the hard work the staff has done to restock the shelves. Greg Clark, Malik Jackson, Darr, Gooch, now maybe Porter- they are turning over every stone. I give them an A for effort.

But what about the stars!?!

What will we do without the stars!?! You know that there is no such thing as football without the stars. [/sarcasm]

At the end of the day, our coaches are doing things right. We WILL see our program back on top and competing for SEC/National championships within the next 3 years. Sometimes a program has to go through tough times for that fire and fan appreciation to be rejuvinated. We had become accustomed to always winning and when that happens the fair weather fans are okay, but when we struggle they start their negative banter. The true fan understands this ebb and flow and appreciates the work that goes into building a championship program and enjoys the ride.

I hope for the sake of the staff that the wins come to get us to a bowl game this year.

They work so stinking hard, and they will work hard when we are successful, but they may be able to get in similar talent during the offseason with 60-70 hour weeks instead of 80-90 hour.

This. Though I still am not holding my breath on Dooley winning at UT, I do applaud him and the coaching staff for at least trying to improve the team :clapping:

I hope DD does well. I think I see a plan he's trying to work...

But the bottom line is that we don't "have to appreciate" anything but wins on the field.

This. If those don't come within a few years, it doesn't matter how hard he is working. Most coaching staff's work their asses off. Sure there is the occasional exception (see Fulmer's last few years) which got Tennessee into this situation in the first place.

I'm willing to be patient this year so long as they play hard, disciplined football and the coaches look like the know what they're doing. They have to keep command of the team. Several times in Fulmer's declining years, he completely lost control of his team.

I expect ALOT more next year. They will have this class plus the two previous classes. They will be more talented and experienced next fall by a significant margin.

The big factor IMO is that they have to hang onto the 10 class and the remnants of the 09 class... and develop them extremely well.

and, the bottom line is, they're doing what UTAD pays them very handsomely to do, as professionals.

It doesn't look good when DD moves Teague and Meline to defense. We'll know soon enough.

Maybe so, but I don't enjoy 5-7 seasons, maybe that's just me. I honestly doubt we will be competing for a NC much less an SEC chamionship in 3 years. DD has to reload the coffers while keeping up with the Floridas and Bammers and I just don't think that will happen.

I don't think of it as a bad thing. We are stacked at WR and need help on defense in the secondary. Teague and Meline are both experienced on the defensive side of the ball, so this is a good move to me.

Why? They weren't in the same class either.

I really hoped they'd stick with Teague at WR but if he's OK with it... I believe he can excel there.

If your point was that the attrition has caused these shifts then I agree completely. CLK's first class was DB heavy but not so much now.

I like Teague and Gordon at corner. Meline wanted to have a shot at safety. May end up another Dale Carter.

Not trying to hate on the post, but the title is a bit ridiculous. Working hard on the recruiting trail is something I expect of our coaches, not something that is beyond their call of duty...
