Paced by a two home run, eight-RBI performance by junior Cody Hawn, the University of Tennessee baseball team was able to shrug off an eighth-inning comeback by Georgia, scoring seven times in the top of the ninth to finish off its first Southeastern Conference series sweep of the season with a 14-11 triumph on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Foley Field in Athens, Ga.

I dont get to watch them very often but it looks like the baseball Vols are doing much better than most anticipated prior to the season.

Imagine how good Hawn would have been with the proper instruction the Farragut kids got?

IT'S ON! :)

Isn't it amazing how winning quiets things down.
Where's the "fire the coach" haters.
Yeah, just win baby!
Anyway it looks like we may make the SEC tourney this year! Fingers crossed and good hitting and pitching.

8th is not good enough. Tennessee's record against teams with winning records is still dreadful.

If the Vols finish 8th and are two-and-que in Hoover and NCAA then I think firing is still in order.

If the Vols win 4 more regular season games and look okay in post season play then I say one more season but ZERO contract extension.

If Vols finish top-3 in Hoover. Do well in in NCAAs then given him extension (1-2 years)

But we are not yet in at 8th seed. The cart is still way in front of horse. Being swept next week at a good Auburn team is a real possibility.

Then the vols will likely need to win 2-3 against Alabama to squeak in at 8th.

Tennessee can still do better than Todd Raleigh and 8th place.

In SEC Play...The Vols are 5-10 against teams at .500 or better (LSU is at .500)...the Vols are 6-3 against teams .499 or worse.

Ole Miss is best series victory this season. LSU (@home) and Miss St (on road) are worst series losses this season.

If seeing the same percentages. The Vols are on track to win 3 more games and finish 14-16 in SEC Play and 31-25 overall with an RPI around 40ish. That would place the Vols at a #3 seed in region play. And likely somewhere tough like Coastal Carolina.

Raleigh gave no one any reason to blindly support him until this little run. We can just hope it continues. Don't pretend you knew it all along if it does. You said it. Just win. Everyone will be happy that way.
