You do know you live in a mixed economy? And you do know every other better mixed economy has a higher quality of life than you, right?

And you do know that everywhere they have tried to implement Hayek's vision it has failed, don't you?

And you do know Hayek has a lot of great things to say about the individual (as does Rousseau, Saint-Simon, Helveticus, etc), but his vision is a betrayal of freedom - a totalitarian vision (with far less passion than either the totalitarian visions of the Left and Right that have dominated our century) which circumscribes freedom to a technocratic bureaucracy?

Which countries have a higher avg standard of living than the US? Which have a higher value of private property ownership than the US?

We are NOT headed in the right direction to improve standard of living with Keynesian policies.

FWIW, I agree with the founders about an economic system with a central bank in control of currency being a threat to rights and liberty.

FDR and Nixon I believe took us off the gold standard, right? Basically the brackets around the great Keynesian experiment did something that the wise old founders knew would threaten freedom.
