"David worked for a small electronics shop that didn't offer health insurance.

"We thought we were fine," said Barbara. "We had TennCare."

Famous last words, eh?

Because then they didn't have TennCare"

Oh yeah..now I'm convinced. This one story convinces me I should be on board with Obamacare.

/sarcasm.

no one debates the need for reform. It's just that some of us prefer market-based reforms with limited government oversight over government takeovers that pay lip service to the private sector.

This.

People need to quit acting like it's an either/or scenario. It's possible to believe we need reform and also believe Barry's plan is completely idiotic. Barry wants you to believe it's his plan or we all die. Barry can bite me.

We often see Calkin's stories posted in the sports forums of the nation.

This is for those that think people that rely on the government will be the only beneficiaries of healthcare reform.
Sounds to me like we need to speed up the Social Security disability claims procedure, not institute socialized medicine.

WAIT....the slow government process killed this guy? Yes, I want the government involved in all of my healthcare decisions.

UT IE 95, since you have no problem paying for Obamacare. I think you should contact Mrs. Scott, and pay off her outstanding medical bills.

Exactly. The government is the most inefficent entity on the planet. If it were a business it would have gone away a LONG time ago. So to think government run healthcare is going to fix anything is just....naive.

From what I read it sounded to me as if this wasn't a problem with private health insurance. After all this man had none. He was on a GOVERNMENT health care plan and look where that got him. This looks like just another reason to not support government provided health coverage.

There needs to be reform, government can play a role in that, government does not need to provide health insurance though.

you think he would have gotten better care in Canada or England? get real UT. the problem with our healthcare now is the regulations your socialist gov puts on insurance companies. give insurance companies incentives to compete and you'll see better an cheaper coverage.

maybe allow American to have healthcare saving account, oh we can't do that either because it takes power from your all knowing and all powerful government.

Why would I insult this woman like that? She is working hard to pay off her bills herself. She's not looking for a handout.

When she's cleared her debt, she'll buy a stone for her dead husband's grave.
