This was posted on the football forum, and it was suggested I bring this over here if I want to turn it into a discussion about how bad of a congressman Heath Shuler is and how the Democrats are ruining our country.

This is actually how I became aware the political forum existed, and I must say I am happy to see that there are so many right minded Vols fans out there. Also not surprised that the resident gator is the token Marxist. How fitting to support all that is evil and wrong in politics and in football.

Shuler is an idiot (great football player) but still a moron. I hope he liked his short stay in the House because its over in 2010 along with many of his fellow libs.

To me, there is nothing worse than the Heath Shuler type Democrat that talks to his constituents and says they should vote for him because he's a "moderate," and then goes to DC and votes in line with Pelosi and the socialist nutjobs.

I have more respect for Nancy Pelosi than I do Shuler, because at least she is somewhat honest with her constituents about wanting to raise taxes and socialized medicine. Shuler will tell the people in North Carolina one thing, and then go to DC and do the exact opposite.

If that is not dishonest, I don't know what is.

I just hope the voters in his district realize this and vote him out. There is no such thing as a moderate in the House of Reps. The only time they vote against Pelosi is when she lets them. If she needs their vote she will get it.

the thing about it is I want the illusion that those making the laws are smarter than I am and understand what's going on. I haven't met very many reps but I am confident in my evaluation of HS

I think you're in for disappointment for a long, long time. I've given up on expecting politicians to know anything, all I ask for them is to govern with good intentions and follow the laws and our Constitution. Seems that is expecting too much as well.

I hope that Heath Shuler and Al Franken don't create a wave of leftist celebrity politicians that think they're more qualified to run our lives than we are based simply on the fact that they are a celebrity. I fear we one day might have laws forced on us by Senator Brittney Spears, and President Oprah Winfrey... but I guess both would be better than Obama, and are at least equally as qualified as he.

oh I know but I can still try and trick myself into believing otherwise. I can't do that with him. If he legislates like he played at UT then he's doing it while knowing about 75% of the Constitution. That's not good enough anymore

It's not dishonest, it's called a quarterback sneak.
