With the sentiment going on in the electorate today, I'm beginning to think that Smokey the coondog might have been able to get elected if he ran as a moderate Democrat.

Heath will peter out in Washington, move on to challenge Mayor Ray Nagin in New Orleans, and then go crawling back to NC within just a few short years of this big win.

I think thats why he won. It was time for a change and he seems pretty "middle of the road'. The last guy was in for 16 years.
