IF.........."The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. The winners of the trophy epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. "...............then how did it ever become the award that generally or most always goes to the QB of the winningest team that year (or at least CFP team a la B Young last year and not Stetson Bennett). According to that definition above, I'd love to hear anyone explain why it doesn't go to Hendon this year. Would love to see somewhere in their decision making process that 'no player who becomes injured during the season is eligible to win' but that's essentially what happened to Hendon. Also would love to see where it officially states that the winner must be on a team that lost 0 or 1 games during the season. Frankly, after what they did to Peyton, I couldn't really care any less about who wins it and if there isn't a VOL in the running, I don't even keep up with it.

RG3 won with 3 losses, but was an anomaly. It’s a marketing/ popularity contest most of the times, and it’s obviously heavily dependent on who else is in the running.

96 catches. 1820 yards. 26 TDs

Randy Moss should have been awarded the 97 Heisman.
Marshall lost to 7-5 West Virginia, 8-3 Miami (OH), and 8-4 Ole Miss in the bowl game. That team had no significant competition and still lost 3 games. He was never winning. If they had run the table he should have won.

Gino Torretta was awarded a sham Heisman over Garrison Hearst in 92. By the Fall of 97, it was clear Torretta was a bust in the NFL, and a reminder to Heisman voters of their past mistakes leaning on QBs for the award. Thus, the vote to give it to Woodson.
