Heisman Watch

I love the Vince Young kid out of Texas....kid has it all. He may not win the Heisman but he'll prolly be a #1 draft pick when he comes out.

Well. . . . . as much as I like the publicity. . . . .it honestly seems a little high for a sophomore who was shaky at times last year, is coming off an injury, and hasn't even been declared the starter yet.

Don't get me wrong -- I like this kid and I see great things in his future. Just not sure if I see a "Heisman" in '05. We'll have a well-balanced offense with emphasis on the run (as always) and our QB will lack Texas Tech-like numbers. . . . .Except in the win column.

'Course, a National Championship run might boost one's stock a little?

I find it great that they listed him above Leak. If I have to hear about how great he is all season long I think I will croak!!

If he could just learn to throw the football. :p

Okay, he does have some shining moments (Rose Bowl), but his passing is very inconsistent.

If Deangelo Williams played for a high profile team he would win it. That guy has some serious moves. I see him still getting invited if he has a year like his last.

Doubtful a UT player will win it....remember? They have a bias against us? :dunno:

Anyway, we will soon have a RB Heisman.

The Rose Bowl?

That game was like the UT-Michigan bowl game way too much speed for Michigan so of course he looked great.

Yes it is inconsistent but he also had a higher passing % then both Greene and Ainge last season. His TD to INT ratio hurt him though.

27. QB D.J. Shockley, Georgia
Potentially one of the most dynamic players in the SEC, Shockley will make a serious run for New York if he can get the Dawgs to the conference title game. If Georgia is in the hunt for the Rose Bowl, Shockley will be a finalist.

Don't know if I should love this or hate it.....I LOVE IT. :D

I agree with you UTvolpj - williams is awesome. I live in Memphis and have seen him play several times and he is as good as any back in the country, right up the gut or around the corner the kid is brilliant and a class act - he takes his time with the fans and the kids. NO EGO!!! Only if all the players acted like that.

It's nice of them to put Ainge in the top 5 but I think it's too early for him. I HOPE he wins it next year because that will mean that we had a heck of a season!!

I just hope he works hard and doesn't buy into all the hype before the season even starts. We will see.

I agree with you. Although I hate to say it this kid has got all the making of a great qb and if you can get a 19 yr old kid to keep a level head you will be allright.

Ahhhhh' bla' bla....We dont need the Heisman attention. Besides if your UT no RESPECT!!...They'd find another riff raff and dubb him tha man.

Would be nice to see an RB with the YPC and TD's flirting with the Heisman politicians

Ted Ginn at #14?

Try #2 or #3

He may be a great player, but Ginn won't get enough touches to make a difference. Usually, voters love to see the big #'s on their guys. Also, it will make a difference how OSU fares this year. If they stumble to Tex and Ginn is not a factor, he could lose consideration right there. This should be a great season of football!

u know what i say.

:finger: the heisman. take anybody from our school of that stupid list. the heisman means jack squat. they always give it to the wrong guy.

they screwed peyton out of it.

so :censored: it.

i want a national championship. not some stupid bronze trophy that singles guys out.

if we play like a team we will dominate.

:finger:

Agreed, the Heisman should be renamed the ESPY. Only two guys have a say so on who wins it... Corso and Herbstreit. If these guys get on someones bandwagon they will pimp him up to the point of people thinking theyd be fools not to vote for him.

Heisman means nothing.

What about last year? ESPN pimped the hell out of Oklahoma, White and Peterson as favorites over USC (in the Heisman race and the national title), and look how that turned out.

ESPN doesn't have the final say whatsoever, but they do have influence on it.

ok milo that is :bs: .

espn ran usc into the ground last year. everyone knew that leinart was gonna win the stupid thing.

it should have been reggie bush. and it will be this year. without bush usc is very very very beatable.

they remind me of florida without bush. "great qb" "great receivers" and bush.

he is the best player in football. bar none.

get ainge of the list. it will jinx him. hell he hasnt even won the starting job yet.

a backup SOPHOMORE is gonna win the heisman.. i dont think so.

espn isnt the only media outlet that has a say in the heisman. but they have about a big say none the less.

i just want to win another nc so bad man.

we need more to show that fulmer is one hell of a coach not just a good recruiter.

this is our year. dominate dt. dominate (if he stays healthy) lb. dominate cb.
dominate rb. dominate receivers and a potentially dominate offensive line. and all we need is a GOOD not GREAT qb. and some luck.

that is a nice recipe for glory. we didnt once why not again?

First off, I think you meant to say Bush without Florida.

And there were actually two ingredients that made USC good last season. They are called "talent" and "good coaching." That is how you get national championships.
