Surprised no one has commented on the interview with Dollander on Rivals... bet the arm is still discolored, but he said he is already throwing..... love to have him back to full speed well before the tournaments. After the fast turning Halverson saga I have been a bit tense. Taking a deep breath now. Seems really happy with all our coaches but loves playing for FA. :):):) My first use of emojis ever..

He is tough as nails if he pitches this weekend. With all the options, it might make more sense to rest him or give him middle relief innings, but whatever CTV decides is fine with me. He's earned that right.

I'd guess if he pitches this weekend it would only be an inning or two in relief. Otherwise, start him in the next midweek game for an inning or two. Then depending on how others in the starting rotation are faring, use him on weekends in relief or bring him back as a starter on the midweek games and progressively get up to full speed again.

You seem upset that people on a baseball message board are discussing baseball. That seems weird.
Based on everything I've seen posted here by PVol, this seems to be an attempt at sarcasm on his part, not something rooted in being "upset" at Als comment.

I imagine he didn't mean it harshly, as some have taken it.

Al, we are so glad you are bringing direction and incredible recommendations to our pitching staff coaches. How do they ever get along when they can't reach you?

But, I am ALWAYS available to them! I'm never out of their reach, day or night. And the fact they haven't called yet doesn't deter me at ALL!! ;)

With Dollander likely available next week against Kentucky, and the embarrassment of starting arms we have, I wonder if the coaches will look to give a couple of our starters a week off to get ready for postseason. Dollander will have had 2 weeks off. Tidwell is obviously well rested. Maybe go with Tidwell-Dollander-Beam against Kentucky to give Burns a week off. Then go with Burns-Tidwell-Dollander against Georgia or Mississippi State to give Beam a week off.

It would make sense, given how much starting pitching talent we now have.

Maybe. But, there is always the danger of your guys losing their rhythm if you give them too much time off. It will be interesting to see how they handle it.

I wouldn’t expect more than a 1 start break for Burns and/or Beam. I don’t think that throws of rhythm, just a nice rest to keep 2 freshman arms from hitting a wall.

Resting them may induce a wall, too. I’d treat them as individual cases, I guess. Look at their histories and watch for what’s making them tick. Not really sure. I’ve never managed the pitching staff for an historic baseball team.

I think he may start a midweek game. See how he feels inning to inning. He definitely needs to have work when ready.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I think Burns is starting to hit the wall. He has struggled last couple outings. I believe he needs a rest.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm of the notion that Tidwell needs to pitch through it. He's been on a pitch count so I don't think he's fatigued. If I'm Vitello I wait and see how Burns does Thursday for bullpen reasons. Saturday I throw Tidwell and see how deep he goes. Depending on the outcome of those games I either give Beam the night off (we have plenty of arms available) or let Beam start and bring in Dolly (we've used some arms Thursday & Friday).

It's not about this series, it's about being ready for tournament play and having everyone in tip top shape - rested, ready to go.

Sell it to the pitching team we are going to pick each other up. If someone is not having their best night you might get a short hook for another starter. Don't see it as a negative. See the end goals win a championship and go first round in draft. Problem becomes when all 3 starters are pitching lights out.
