Need help for my son's friend . He was videoing the police arresting someone at the G10 parking area with his cell phone Saturday. Long story short - around 20 members of the police showed up and my son's friend was thrown down, bruised up, cuffed and taken to jail. Believe me, this kid weighs about 145 soaking wet, had a beer in one hand and was filming with his cell phone with the other. His cell phone dropped when he was tackled so he doesn't have a video for proof in his defense. He has been charged with something ridiculous - so he was hoping that perhaps one of you may have captured this interaction on your own cell phones. Please contact me if you did.

Thanks,

It is now legal to record police from what i saw on the news, so unless he did something illegal I'm not sure why they'd arrest him.

Police on game days can get out of control quickly. I witnessed something on Cumberland Ave years ago on a game day where the police were starting to arrest someone on a sidewalk. One cop didn't like the fact that someone was standing too close (probably 10 feet away) and yelled for the guy to move. The person had his back to the situation and was completely oblivious to what was going on, so a cop ran over and tackled this person to the concrete. Luckily, there were enough witnesses to what happened to get the supervisor over there and make the cop apologize for his behavior. That cop should have spent the night in jail for his actions.

Best of luck with finding the video.

Update : They have now dropped all charges - and the arresting officer is in some trouble with his superiors - but we would still like to see the video.

Thanks,

Good to hear. Do you know if it was UTPD or KPD?
