Quick questions, how does the SEC ranking system work now that there are no east and west divisions? I believe it’s just the two highest ranked teams will face off in the SEC championship game, correct?

With the new SEC format and playoff system, who should we root for and against in tonight's game? Since LSU is in our conference and ranked higher than us, we should probably root for them to lose. A loss would not only help our ranking but also keep another potential SEC playoff team from taking our spot in the hunt for the SEC title. Plus, I really can't stand Brian Kelly.

Non-conference games mean nothing as far as conference standings. End of season ranking is based off of conference record. There are a series of tie breakers in case of a tie.
This is why I think the SEC needs to move to a 9 game conference schedule. There aren't enough opportunities for teams to cancel each other out.
