He may not get in on the first ballot, but he definitely will at some point in his first 5 years of eligibility.

I think it takes longer than 5 years. Subpar power numbers for a 1st baseman.

I think he needs one more year with over 110 RBIs and 30 homers (and retire over .300) to cinch it. He's not too old to do that at least once more. I would sure love to see a Knoxville HS kid make the Hall.

Playing in Denver doesn't help, either. I've heard old hardball heads say things like "Mattingly (and others mentioned) would have hit 50 homers a year in Denver with a (non-contending) ballclub like that."

Do you think Todd is a 1st ballot Hall of Famer?

After seeing some responses...In HIS era, he's been a pretty productive player. He's arguably the best player in Rockies history. I see what your saying about the steroid era as well.

Helton loses points from some because of Coors Field. I guess I can see that. Now a thing like taking less money to help build a franchise is not a stat the hall values, I guess.

He's won a couple of Golden Gloves in addition to his offense.

There's a list of folks that have more HR's, more RBI's, a better slugging %, but as an all-around type player, old school and WOULD IT BE GOOD FOR BASEBALL? We'll see.

Certainly, I'm biased. GBO!

The bottom line is worth checking out.

it is always nice to see good guys have long careers in the big leagues. hopefully, he still has some productivity left in the tank for a few more seasons.

Being a White Sox fan I was watching this game and there was a Helton fan with a nice sized orange Tennessee flag with the checkerboards on each side, I love seeing that power T pretty much everywhere

He eventually gets in. no chance at first ballot, though.

He's likely to have an Andre Dawson/Tony Perez type wait, but he should eventually get a call.

They are going to have to put somebody in. Steriods have hurt some of the players ahead of him. IMO

Let's give it 5 more years and see how many other "great" hitters that played in the late 90s and 2000's are found out to have been roiding up

if all of those hitters aren't going to get it (which it looks like this is what is going to happen) then there aren't going to be a lot of 300 career hitters left to put in the Hall

all this assumes he was clean though, and 2000 and 2001 kinda makes you second guess that assumption

Griffey might be the only first ballot HOF hitter in that whole generation

And depending on voters wanting to send a message on the steroid era, he may get the call sooner rather than later.

He needs just less than 200 hits to get to 2,500. If he can get to there and keep his lifetime average above .320, it'll make getting in a lot easier.
