This was a good read. I knew he had overcome some adversity but not the scope of it. That he kept at it through all of those challenges couldn’t have been easy, but he did. He was prepared when he finally had the opportunity to not only start, but to do so in an offense where he was trusted and valued. Many who went through what he did probably stop putting in as much effort at some point, if they don’t give up entirely. Great perseverance.

I am saddened by the fact that this young MAN stands about as much chance for a Heisman trophy win as I do. Anytime there is a good ( not great ) player from one of the northern big name schools in the running you can bet on him as the winner. Not paranoia on my part, just simple dollars and population density.

There is a Hunter Johnson sighting in this article. That is the underachieving 5-star flip that helped convince Tee Higgins to flip to Clemson as well.

We live in the most densely populated area of the country now. The midwest is shrinking. SEC players are winning it way more frequently now. 8 SEC players won it in 71 years from 1935-2006, 2007-2021 has seen 8 SEC players win it in the last 15 seasons. However, until it changes I'll forever believe voters look at every other possible person to win if it's a Tennessee player having a great season.

Agree with you on most of your statement and not trying to be contentious but the big bucks are still coastal in the US and I believe the DAC with their trophy is still influenced by $ and regional prejudices. I think they would love to award the thing to Fordham and Cornell players. What really bugs me is I still care about the thing after all the screw jobs they’ve given Orange players in the past.

For a comparison, I watched a lot of college games Saturday and no other team had the type player Hooker is. Other teams have qb's that can get the ball to a receiver, but it's a thing of beauty hitting a guy in stride the way Hooker and Co. do. Credit a lot to his talented receivers and practice/ offensive line.
