Former Tennessee player Jemere Hendrix wears a shirt apologizing to the team, fans, coach Bruce Pearl and athletic director Mike Hamilton as he watches from the stands during the game against East Tennessee State on Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, in Knoxville, Tenn. Hendrix was kicked off the team after being arrested on a drug charge and having an altercation with a football player.

I saw a guy in the student section wearing a shirt with something written on it but I couldnt read what it was so thats it. You gotta feel bad for the guy but its his own fault he's gone. He was a bad basketball player anyways, he started a fight before the Kentucky game last year in the SEC tourney, and we needed to win that to get in to the NCAA, Kentucky came out fired up due to the fight and beat us by 50, I'm glad hes gone.

lol....i wonder if he is trying to get reinstated on the team by being apologetic? Too bad, UT needed some more big men.

Whats the status with Justin Patterson anyways? Or that freshman center from south carolina?

Patterson is playing, but due to his punishment, is not allowed to start yet. Harris is likely to redshirt this season.

As to Jemere, I'm beginning to feel sorry for him. He has certainly made some mistakes. I truly believe he's seen his errors and wants a 3rd chance. The bottom line however is that Bruce is probably the best judge of the situation. This is still sad IMO.

IMO, a decision to reinstate him would be a terrible mistake. Sad, sure. It always is when a kid makes bad decisions. But, to rescind a punishment that seems suitable for the crime sends a message that only perpetuates all that is wrong with Tennessee, college athletics, and sports in general.

Turn on Sportscenter. Oftentimes, it resembles more of "Entertainment Television" or "Extra" than a sports newscast (see "Terrell Owens," for starters). Many athletes have become so overcome by the fame and fortune that they have forgotten the virtues of humility and teamwork, and this message is being perpetuated by the media and now by college (amateur) kids dressed head-to-toe in superstar garb, designer suits, sunglasses, and diamond rocks.

Like it or not, the lack of discipline and the selfish pride have crippled our football team as much or more than any coaching or playcalling. From what I've seen of Bruce, he's not about to let that happen on the court.

Everyone is sorry when they get caught. Seems to me James Banks was sorry as well. I'd rather have players that follow the rules instead of manipulating them!

Take him back. If he screws up, ban him.

I am one of those who thinks a program's image is one of the most over-rated aspect in college sports.

If a team wins, it gets the players it wants.
