First, it's hard to see how recruiting will go well this year.

Second, is it possible to avoid being terrible next year? I don't think so. Our offense will not be anywhere near as good---no proven wide receivers at all, and the OL will not be as good; and the defense is going to be an issue again.

So it's going to be a rocky start for the new guy. I see no way around that. :ermm:

Recruiting will depend on the incoming staff hires. If they are a bunch of recruiters they could fair well. Possibly a top 10-20 class. Getting the coordinators is going to be the critical step. Not sure how many coaches on this staff will be retained. Hopefully a few.

Next year you are correct. Its going to be tough sledding with our schedule. also probably will be installing a new offensive and defensive system. Gonna be tough regardless.

A competent DC can improve the D until the talent catches up
2) Dooley landed a great class in two weeks under the circumstances. I truly believe that there were a lot of prospects interested in UT who either didn't like Dooley or didn't believe he would be successful. I think Jones will get a top 15 class
