I'm sure I'm not the only one who has looked at other teams with young qb's over the past 5-6 years and thought, "wish we had a guy like that". I'm hoping today we see 'that guy' behind center for us. I know first start, on the road, vs #9, but I hope he gives us hope. Go Big Orange, and Go Dobbs!!

It would indeed be awesome if we find out that Dobbs just has that "it" factor!

I figure it will go something like this:

Dobbs is starting his first game in a hostile environment. He will make some mistakes...throw a pick or two, take a couple of sacks when he should have thrown the ball away...throw to an empty area of the field due to miscommunications with the receivers...there will probably be some offensive problems getting everyone lined up...he'll keep it and run when he should have handed it off...Things along those lines. It's only to be expected.

However, he showed a lot of confidence at 'bama, showed some elusiveness and speed and the ability to do what coach "Stones" wants him to do when he keeps it...get 4 or 5 yards and make the defense have to respect his running ability. He also has some zip and accuracy when he throws it, more so than an injured Worley at any rate. And he is a smart kid...likely won't make the same mistake over and over again...

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if we kept this game respectable until the 4th quarter and then either lost on a QB misread or broken play...or didn't and eked out a late win. But I also wouldn't be surprised if we got boat raced in the first half, and then he gets a little more comfortable and into a groove and makes the game respectable.

...yeah, I think I covered all my bases with that...:)

I expect some mistakes but if he does all that we will lose bad. Real bad.

What's not to believe? He could have a top game and you guys win. Have to believe!

I agree. Who's to say he isn't our "Johnny Football" and comes out and makes a bunch of plays and puts us in a position to win.

Why not us?

He is mobile that is a plus. He worked with the offense all week long. He is intelligent. He has the best staff in America coaching him up. At this point, Dobbs knows this offense better than the other QBs. Seems to have a calm demeanor and poise. RBs and WRs have improved immensely. Offensive line has something to prove.

Sometimes he telegraphs his passes. He attempted to force a pass into coverage, don't think he does that this week. No real full game management but he is well coached and should be fine.

Any other pluses or minuses I may have missed.

Nerves? Speed differential playing in the SEC vs High School. As long as he is on the same sheet of music with the WRs and RBs I think we are good.

Will he get through the first Quarter if he does so. Then he cruises the next 3 and leads the Vols to victory.

Why hope just believe.

For Me, The most anticipated game for me in the last 5 years

We will find out just about everything the first drive. Don't watch the plays and things like that. Just watch his demeanor and prescence. Also look and see how others around him react to him
