Hooker's Vol Offense is #1 and has been since September. 2022 College Football Stat Leaders | ESPN

Hooker has carried our undermanned Defense for 2 years. The 31 we had when he went down should be enough to win. Can't blame him for horrendous D. Bad Ds in the SEC get pummeled.

Nobody has ever beaten Florida, Alabama and LSU in the same season. Hooker did it in 3 weeks.

Compared to Stroud (whose schedule everyone acknowledges is relatively soft), Hooker has more passing yards, more passing yards per game, higher completion %, fewer Ints (only 2 Int in 324 att). Stroud has more TDs, ~50% of which occurred after OSU was ahead by 4 TDs.

Hooker blows Stroud out in rushing.
Stroud has 77 yards and 0 TDS, on only 33 attempts, 2.3 yards per carry. Sacked only 7 times (= better OLine).
Hooker has 430 yards on 104 attempts and 5 TDs, 4.1 yards per carry. Sacked 23 times.

10.75 games is enough to show who's deserves it the most. Hooker has the best body of work.

Lamar Jackson was 9-3 when he won the Heisman in 2016.

EDIT (augmentation):
Had Hendon played the rest of the SC game and all of the Vandy game, his numbers would not have changed materially.

I agree with OP, but unfortunately it wont happen. He would be extre Lucky to get an invite (which he deserves) to NY.

This dream is over too. Any shot Hooker had at the Heistman fell on the sword Saturday night when the Vols lost to an inferior opponent. The defense cost Hooker his shot at the Heistman and it’s that simple.

there is just one issue with your argument OP, Hooker plays for TN and no player for TN will ever win the heisTman. That award is is for the Royalty of college football (OSU, Bama, ND,TX) and nobody north of the Mason Dixon line is voting for no TN boy to win, period, end of story.

Well, I'm going to say thank you Mr. Hendon Hooker for bringing your all to what has still been a great season. Wishing you the best in the NFL and hope you fall to the Panthers. Get well soon!

He should at least get an invite for the year he has had - but won’t be a complete year now. They were still calling him a favorite, perhaps THE favorite, during the game on Saturday.

Yeah that would work if the world wasn't azzhole backwards, but it is. They managed to give Charles Woodson the Heistman remember. Pun intended. Hooker has meant a lot to his team though and unfortunately we're probably going to see how much so Saturday. That's what the award was supposed to be about. It's become more about brand and whoever blueblood plugs in at QB anymore.

I agree with the OP, but he won't win it. He wasn't going to win it even if we had beaten USC jr. And Vandy on our way to a playoff bid. They were always going to give it to someone else. No Tennessee player will ever win the Heisman. The national media won't let it happen.

For the players on D who choose to be childish on a man’s platform in the SEC you don’t represent The University of Tennessee though you may wear the colors and uniforms you are not worthy of its honor or it’s grand history. Not only did you let down the fans but in my opinion you betrayed the one man HENDON HOOKER who restored honor and a man who stocked the fire 🔥 in Volnation once again. HH put the power back into the Power T again for me. I’m 44 years old I’ve seen a lot Tennessee football but honestly I’ve never had a year where I am beyond excited , happy and proud. What we all witnessed this year will go down in history. HENDON you are a man all players should strive to be. Thanks for an amazing year full of success and a few failures but hey that’s the SEC BABY.

Where was Hooker before the SC game in the odds. I noticed he is a listed as a long shot now with about 20 players above him.

Paul Hornung won the 1956 Heisman when Notre Dame had a 2-8 record. This was suppose to be judged on an individual's merits, not the team. Over the years it's turned into a sham. Manning had the numbers to win easily. I think some voters felt like Manning was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, so they wouldn't vote for him. People like a rags to riches story.
