Hershey's does an ad with the kisses acting as bells in Christmas carols, every year. This year's started the same but then a kid's hand came out and snatched away a kiss and ate it, and then the kid's father took the rest and they used them in cookies.

And people complained?
I guess these are 1st world problems during a pandemic 😂

Not that it matters but I like the new version better, what do you all think?

IIRC that's the oldest ongoing Christmas commercial. (Followed by Carona's Oh Christmas Tree beach ad)

I'm with those that don't mind there being a 2nd riff off the original but c'mon... don't just screw over the first for the mere sake of change.

Can’t remember the company. Maybe Gillette? Used to have a stop motion Santa sledding in an electric razor cover or something. That one ran for years and years. I think they changed it a few years back and people were “outraged” then too.

The big concern is not that people are changing commercials. The big concern is that the news is reporting "outrage" and people believe this is happening. I click through yahoo a lot to get to sports.yahoo and finance.yahoo. About half the headlines I see are about "outrage" over some drivel. Clearly, people are not really outraged. It goes in waves. One time, there are many outrage stories about air travel. Then, maybe another day, there are many outrage stories about fat people being fat. Then some days, it's outrage over fat people /on/ airplanes.

It's drivel. Treat drivel like it's drivel.

I think that people are home more now and so maybe they are paying more attention to things
that they normally would not give it another thought, because really a Hershery's Kiss commercial is
the last thing that people need to worry about now

The thing that drives me crazy about the social media and website comments is I guarantee that most of them are disingenuous. Most people have no emotional connection or feelings at all about the commercial. They simply see something that is popular and try to piggyback off of it. They see it as a source for likes, comments, and @'s and they don't care if their response, or the responses to their response, are positive or negative, just as long as they can keep refreshing the page and seeing new alerts. The ability to communicate freely and easily with anyone in the world via internet is one of the great advancements of my lifetime and it was ruined the minute they turned it into a competition.

To me it's all about nostalgia and tradition.

Why did Hershey have to change it after 40 years? Is having a kid eat the part of the commercial that always brought a smile to people's faces going to sell more Kisses? Not likely.

It's like Apple going and shelling out big bucks to take the rights to the Peanuts gang away from ABC and broadcast television.

Several generations for 50+ years have been watching a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving & Christmas with their families. Then Apple comes along and says if you want to see it now you have to subscribe to Apple TV.

Now I'm sure a lot of folks like myself own those specials on Blu-ray or DVD. However it's just not the same.

Does Apple have that right sure they do. However is it the right thing to do.....
