I’m watching the Ole Miss game and I got to thinking about Kiffin. I remember one of the things people complained about once he left was the fact he’d never recite Neyland’s Maxims before the game as was tradition. So I’m curious, does anyone know if Heupel does? I love the locker room videos that come out, but don’t think I’ve ever seen one that’s a pregame of Heupel.

Every Saturday that passes gives me one more reason to be glad that Tony Elliott was never seriously considered for the job.

I’m glad we have CJH. I think he is going to do really good things here…and perhaps do great things.

BUT. Tony Elliott will never get a fair chance at Virginia and it is through no fault of the school or him. I feel very sorry for him TBH. No coach should have those circumstances thrown on them. Especially in the first year. He was beat down before he ever had a chance.

We will never know if Elliott can coach or not based on his stint at Virginia.

We could say the same thing about Hueple if he failed. He never had a chance 40 players left or portaled he was left with sanctions hanging over the program. He followed 3 clowns that crippled the program that hardly no top coach's wanted to take on.
We could have said, feel sorry for Josh but he didn't feel sorry for himself and put on his big boy britches and went to work.

Yeah, hard to find anyone to compare to the crap sandwich Heupel had to start with.

Winners find a way to win, losers make excuses for why they lose. it really is that simple.

Sorry, but that is quite a bit different than having three players murdered on campus.

Kiffin didn’t respect any Tennessee tradition. Pompous ass thought he was the Great Savior himself.

I still don’t understand the Kiffin love…..name his 3 biggest wins as a head coach…….he doesn’t have any. He has mastered creating an image for yourself.

I get what you are saying and we are all sorry for their losses but people are resilient and most don't belabor forever. Americans are strong and move on but keep our respect for those lost as we try to achieve to our best abilities to show respect and honor the ones lost. We showed total respect at the game very proud of both programs.
I'm mostly talking about the last 10 years of both programs both not good UV had a 9 win season in there and so did we a couple with Butch. Programs are not that much different over that decade except ACC is probably 4th in pecking order of conferences.
They both took over mediocre programs with challenges, Josh has done well so far. Elliot just in his 2nd year 3 & 7 his first so he has still got time to turn things around. 1 & 5 so far this year they hopefully will give him 3 to 5 years to turn it around.

Heupel beat Alabama and Florida and had the team ranked #1 in the CFP in year 2. Does that qualify as doing good/great things here?

Heupel burned the Maxims in a fire barrel. He then said no more orange and white uniforms; only alternates from now on.
