Heup's done this before. Using the substitutions to eat up the 40 second clock. I know he has rehearsed this with the defense. SC would sub on offense and then just as they got the subs into position, Tennessee would start subbing on defense. One time SC only had 5 seconds on the clock by the time the officials put the ball in play. They basically only had time to snap the ball. No time to read the defense, no time to check to a different play. They couldn't sub while we were on offense and they didn't want to do it while we were on defense. That's command of the game. Coach gets a star for this. (It's entertaining to go read some post from SCe fans complaining about it. They don't understand.)

Did Florida do something like that to us? At least, changing their defensive look PLUS crowd noise was not good. I'm glad he's adjusting. It's refreshing.
They sorta did with the officals doing bizarre things like kicking the ball away from our center. They did it 2 or 3 times stopping the clock and letting Florida sub while we made no substitutions. Some old timey folks would call that "cheating". I could be wrong, maybe that was against SCe.

Just saw the Terps do the same thing against OSU and cause a delay of game.

From reading their board early this week they don’t understand why that could happen. The Defense can literally take their time getting off the field and the ref will stay over the ball until the last defender gets off the field. There was a time or 2 where they subbed in waves if I remember correctly. Had 2 DL run on then a couple seconds later ran the last one on. It was beautiful and Beamer deserved that.

Okay, what about when teams do this to us? Something needs to change regarding this rule. Defenses can walk players on and off if they want, ensuring either a timeout is called, or delay of game. Defenses should get 10-15 seconds at most from the time the Offense subs, otherwise the delay of game should be called against the defense, because that is exactly what they are doing.
