Heupel's Feelings Have Not Changed Since Being Fired.

Interesting to hear Heupel say his feelings have not evolved since his departure from OU. I am taking this as he still has no interest now nor will he in the future if the OU head coach position were to come open.

Or you’re over reading his effort to say nothing.

Surely you didn’t expect him to say “I now hate the entire state of Oklahoma. Twister was a trash movie and Near Dark was just a knock off version of The Lost Boys”

To say that your feelings haven't changed since being fired is a pretty bold statement. Sure, I could be over reading, but he could have just as easily said there are no hard feelings about what happened.

Hahaha
That would have been epic though

Life can change on a dime.

I think he wants this game pretty bad. It means more to him than it does to Venables. That should translate to preparing and how he wants the plays called.

Tennessee will have a decided edge on Offense vs Okie. (QB, OL WR). Okie will try to run the ball vs UT's defense, and I don't see that working vs Tennessee's front 7. I also think Nico really shows out in this game, and the Vols' tempo wears the sooners out in the second half. This game will signal that Tennessee is a big threat to every team on it's schedule.

OU's defense is going to be pretty salty, playing in Norman and knowing that place will be rocking, I'm not very optimistic about that game.

I am with you on this. I am optimistic, but not overly confident. It likely is a really close game. I think Heup will go a few extra miles to prepare the team. It will be a huge test early. It could be the confidence builder necessry to release the beast we (most of us anyway) believe is inside this team and this program.

I'm not particularly worried about OU coming for him or him going to them should he ever test the market. OU has the same or worse recruiting challenges when it comes to in state talent. There's obviously some kind of appeal but having lived in both areas... Columbia, MO though much maligned here is a MUCH nicer place than the Norman-OKC area. There is literally no comparison on any level between K'ville and Norman.

IMHO, the SEC could be good for Texas... and really bad for OU. They've been a "medium" sized fish swimming in a pond of minnows for a long time. Life is about to change. If they had a recruiting advantage in Texas... that's about to disappear too.

OU's defense will be good, But their offense will be pretty Vanilla, so I see Tennessee getting more stops and OU's defense getting tired in the mid 3rd -4th quarter. I'm believing what I saw in the Citrus Bowl, Nico having a great game. We will know about Nico after Ncst. I don't see him being intimidated by the atmosphere.

Heups road record has been his biggest issue so far. Hopefully he gets them ready to play because Norman will be on fire with Heup coming to town.

Imagine if a Tee Martin led team came into Neyland and was actually good enough to win? That atmosphere would be electric but there would still be no mercy.

He felt then and probably still does now that he was treated unfairly and the problems that were with the offense were put on him - wrongly. Unfortunately, when you are the OC and things don't work, you get the axe. It has worked out well for him in the end, but I would not be surprised if JH were to believe that Lincon Riley got lucky - and turned it into the HC job at OU - a job JH would have likely had if he had continued and coached Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts.

OU has had two alumni coaches in Gary Gibbs and John Blake. Neither was OU level successful and Blake was abysmal. Hard as it may be to accept, it's often better for a coach to go elsewhere to make a name for himself rather than tarnish his legacy as a player by staying as HC and not winning enough.

VolNation has a winner in JH. I don't see him leaving there unless he's fired. He sees what he has available and there isn't anything out there that would be a better situation for him. There are some schools that right now are hotter - Georgia, Oregon, Alabama, Texas - but time has shown that CFB greatness is cyclical. TN is on the upswing and I expect will be at the same level as those schools in the next few years.

Everyone knows he was fuming mad when they fired him. If he said his feelings haven’t changed since then, it means he has no respect for Bob stoops, and and has a big old middle finger toward his Alma mater as long as stoops is associated with the program.

I didn't hear Josh really dealing with the coaching debacle. I know it was in the question, but so was playing there. He seemed to refer to the playing part and stayed there ignoring the coaching period. Take that for what you think it may mean.
