That happened really close to where I live. They were all over it on the local news.

I'm not advocating smoking marijuana (which this kid did not)... but 16 is hard enough to deal with without having your father stabbed to death. If they had thought he did something they should have asked him, politely, to take a drug test and if he popped positive to try to get him some counseling.

Instead of rallying around this kid, the school administrators went on a witch hunt. Suspending him during what has to be an incredibly very rough time is the worst thing they could have done. Absolutely disgusting.

The easiest way to administer is to take out the gray area and only judge on black/white issues.

Takes away such difficult tasks as:

1) Assessing the situation
2) Using rationality to come to the best conclusion
3) Applying that conclusive decision with a tempered response keeping backlash and other repercussions in mind.
