6-8 deep at every position?

Do they have a 200 man roster?

if you consider walk ons all those guys then you could say that technically, teams are that deep. However, no team has 6-8 guys at each position that can actually play. UT has 2 practice squad qb's I think, but I wouldn't have said before the season that we are 6 deep at QB

Does anyone remember Mizzou having top 15 recruiting classes over the past 5 years?

No?

That's what I thought.

This has actually been a point of interest with me lately. Exactly how many players should a team be allowed to have? because, yes there is a limit on scholly's, but not on players, and there are teams like oregon and alabami that simply have more players than other teams. Seems like an unfair advantage to me. But most people seem to think… that's football. part of the game. what ever. If you look at rosters they all list different amounts of players. Seems like an unfair advantage to have MORE players. You know Oregon never has a top tier recruiting class?

NCAA rosters are limited to 85 scholarship players and 125 total players. And you're right Oregon most likely never will have a top recruiting class. Mariota was the lowest ranked two-star we recruited his year.

Thank you for answering that, I've never found one person on these boards willing to answer that. They usually just spout the F off.

Ever wonder why UT fans bad talk their players? This would be why.
Bad talk players???? Take a look in the mirror. Someone posts that a new QB will take a team by surprise(FILM-Missouri watches) and dominate...somehow it turns into bad talking players. Come on, Is pointing out the positive things with our team so bad it threatens Negavols?

I like Dobbs... but it is unlikely there is anything in his skill set except maybe his photographic memory that Mizzou's D has not seen before.

I saw in the St. Louis Post Dispatch that James Franklin is listed as questionable for the game Saturday and has been throwing the ball again. Mizzou is a much better team if he is healthy and playing in the game Saturday.

Love him. I am on the Dobbs bandwagon. He and Riley are not the future those boys could be good now. Let em play Coach.

Vol nation is truly bi polar. We're starting what last week was our 4th string QB on the road at a top 10 SEC foe, and people are expecting a win. I'm sorry, but that's the definition of insanity.

While I sure hope the Vols win Saturday I think it would be a pretty big upset if it happens.

Got this feeling several Volnation members are going to get a big dose of reality saturday....I hope We win but a freshman on the road against a good quality team is just asking for disaster.

I watched the Missouri South Carolina game. I think South Carolina was very lucky in the fourth quarter. Missouri defense was drubbing South Carolina offence. They have a good team. I believe it is possible for us to win as we do have one of the best offensive lines in the SEC. They certain do not have the talent or speed of Oregon or Alabama. We will need to play a mistake free game to win. JMHO

:whistling:

USC outplayed them, but gave lots of turnovers. If the D drubbed them for three quarters, they fell flat when a hurt C Shaw came in. UT beat SC with Shaw playing almost a full game.

I'm not predicting one way or the other, but that freshman QB played a decent team Saturday. He score more TDs on Bama than their last, what? five opponents combined?

And as many don't realize, it was against their starters. Not their scrubs (if they have any).

he didn't start by winning right off, especially on the road. He actually lost his first road games.( didn't start those games) He also had the benefit of a much easier schedule after he was named starter. Even Peyton had growing pains. Also, Peyton has LOADS of NFL talent around him, Dobbs doesn't. I hope for a win, I expect a win, but I am not going to raise my expectations for Dobbs. Let's not do that thing where we set the bar so high for a young player that we roast him when he doesn't live up to an expectation we created.

The urban legend is that when he came into the huddle for his first play in the '94 UCLA game Peyton started with the raw raw leader stuff and one of the senior lineman said "shut up freshman and call the damn play". So yes its a lot to ask of a true freshman to lead a football team, even one with a lot of talent.

It isn't urban legend as both Manning and Jason Layman tell that story. He certainly learned quickly and came into his own quicker than most freshman. Wash State could have been a loss as he threw a pick that was ruled incomplete. Miss State is when he kind of started to get it, albeit that was a loss.

don't know if its been talked about but I think that Oregon not having "top Recruiting classes" is a virtue of the style of offense, the pace, and the type of athlete that Oregon Recruits for their system. but enough of the ducks haha
