Maceal Afaese is considered one of the top 2020 prospects in the state of Hawaii and has the type of potential that has drawn the attention of college recruiters up and down the West Coast heading into the spring evaluation period. The buzz surrounding the three-star defensive end from Kapolei now appears to be headed in a national direction.

Tennessee became the latest offer for the 6-foot-5, 260-pound prospect on Monday and Afaese told 247Sports he still couldn't believe it. "I’m speechless about getting an offer from Tennessee," Afaese said. "I talked to coach Brian Niedermeyer and it means a lot knowing I could play for an SEC school, especially when there are many great teams in that conference. I'm still planning out my visits for the future but I'm definitely looking into Tennessee. "Right now I know I want to visit Washington this summer and will try to make it to UCLA, too, if possible."

Afaese was a top performer at the second annual Polynesian Bowl combine and showcase at Bishop Gorman this past weekend, earning one of the coveted invites to next year's all-star game inside Aloha Stadium. He is still green and unrefined from a technique standpoint, but Afaese has the frame and length that should make college coaches salivate. He’s got a quick first step and the speed to be a nuisance to the outside, which is a major reason why six other programs have already offered, including Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Oregon.

Afaese is the nation's No. 28-rated strong-side defensive end and No. 7 overall prospect in the state of Hawaii for the 2020 class, per the 247Sports rankings. He intends to camp next at The Opening Regional in the Bay Area later this spring.

Chances of getting him better than 10%?? Other than To' , don't 90%+ from Hawaii stay on west coast?

If Bama can pull 5*s from Hawaii, why can't we pull underrated 3*s?
Well, for one, I doubt we would pay to move his entire family here and set his dad up with a job like Bama did for Tua's family. But you never know

Very nice, under the radar prospect. Great to see he has interest in potentially coming to campus.

We have a GA from Hawaii as well. Chances probably aren’t high BUT Pruitt has made some strides to get us in on some of these players. We’ll see if it pays off.

Having a guy like To'oto'o on the roster is huge for Samoan/Hawaiian players. I'd love to see a Polynesian pipeline.
I think Pruitt and staff knows this. And will continue to go after some.
