Can anyone say how the first spring practice went? Everything I see seems positive, online and on twitter and such, but just wondered if any of you were there.

Hello there Fostermom. Long time no see. Things went good. A lot of energy around the program right now. Should be a good turn out at the end of spring for the O&W game.

My father in law knows a guy who is an early 90s former player (scout team type guy) who got to go up and watch. Said CBJ Is very intense, not afraid to get in a guys face, but also pulls them to the side afterwards and stuff. Said he can tell the players respect him. Also said he put huge emphasis on having former players there and made sure to step away from practice a couple times to shake hands and talk a bit.

Probably would be very cool for players, recruits and fans to see AF at a spring practice! CBJ seems to enjoy and understand the importance of welcoming back letterman!

Arian would be more than welcome to attend practice I am sure. You should encourage him to do so.

This. Butch has thrown the door wide open for lettermen. Jamal Lewis was at the first practice and spoke to our backs. I'm sure those guys would love to hear from your son fostermom, he's closer in age and still ballin out in the NFL.

I'm to the point where I am afraid to even think we found a good coach, but I am trying to be cautiously optimistic.

It says a lot to me that this guy wasn't even a huge contributor or anything (I think he was a walk on) and he was made to feel so welcome.

Foster Mom, good to have you back. I have always held Arian's playing time at UT in high regard despite what a few retards had to say. I wish him the best on his NFL career.

Sounds very positive! I sincerely hope he brings this program back to what it's meant to be. I'll talk to Arian about attending a practice, but he'll be starting training this week and has cut down a lot of his travel. I'd also like to see him go back. I think he went back when Dooley was there for a visit but there were only a few people there who remembered him and certainly he felt like it had changed drastically.

I never leave OM...I peek in several times a week so now that I'm home, hopefully I can get back to being a regular poster. Thanks guys! :)

We haven't played a game w/him as HC, but I can't think of a single negative concerning CBJ. I think he gets it & is the real deal. Had to read TKs twitter about 5 times yesterday to make sure I was reading it right & it was from him. Vic Wharton deserves a lot of credit...he has started a landslide of great things to come to UT Football. Lets PACK Neyland Stadium on April 20th!!!!

Thought it went great. Very crisp, spirited like Butch said it would be. Coaches were intense and coaching every detail. Kids seemed focused, although a little rusty, and very responsive to and respectful of the coaches. One time Azzani was blessing out one if his WRs for a mistake and slammed his visor down. As the player was "taking the instruction" from Coach Z he reached down, grabbed the visor and handed it back to him.

CBJ was heavily involved, especially on the offensive side when I was there. Very impressed with him. He was intense, clearly in charge, but also seemed very happy to be there. Even made a quick joke at one point on his microphone at Todd Kelly Srs expense that got a lot of chuckles.

Finally, Coach Majors and about 40 formers players were there. At the end of practice they identified themselves to the players, when they played at UT, if they played in the NFL and what they're doing now. It was very well-received by the current players.

Overall a great atmosphere. Arian certainly would've been a hit on Saturday. He is greatly respected and revered for both his success on the field and how he conducts his life off the field. It would be great if he could find time for a visit. He would be welcomed with open arms from both Butch and all Vol fans everywhere.

5* TN running back recruit Jalen Hurd is visiting this weekend. It'd be real if Arian was there. I'm sure he can free up the schedule. :)
