Since it's playoffs I am putting this thread in the Volboard. Keep us updated with any scores you have or let us know which game you are attending/attended.

I am especially interested in the Maryville/Central game, right Jmxvol? :biggrin2:

They're a freakin' 1A powerhouse. They competed very weel and went deep into the playoffs over the last 4 years when they were in 3A. Now they're back down to 1A and don't appear to be able to be stopped...

Trousdale County is right there around Macon, Smith, and Wilson County.

But in all seriousness Tidwell, they beat a team called Tennessee Temple here in Chattanooga, like 70 to something. And before they played Tennessee Temple, they beat a team like 90 to something, but wouldn't trade game tapes with the Temple coaches. The Temple coaches were like, "Well, we've never seen them play, and they won't give us any tapes, so we'll have to rely on what other coaches who have played them tell us. Those other coaches say, 'It doesn't matter, you're not going to stop them.'" I think that's a scary thought to be going through a young man's mind. Don't you think? Or do they just not have any competition?

Ok, I see now. Isn't that close to where Al Gore grew up? Maybe not. He's from Carthidge, or how ever you spell it. But going back and forth from Nashville to Knoxville in college, I remember the Caney Fork, Cookeville, Crossville, that city that sounds like a California city, and all that on I-40.

They just don't have any competition at the 1A level.

They wanted to give it a shot at the 3A level and got as far as the semi-finals one year. They were reclassified back down to 1A this season... and the average score of their region games was something like 50-2.

They didn't just beat up on 1A teams however... they beat Livingston Academy, currently in the 3rd round of 3A, 14-12. They also blew out Smith County 41-7. Smith Co. made it to the 2nd round in 2A.

Yeah, Gore is from Carthage, in Smith County.

I don't quite know which city on I-40 in that area sounds like a California city however... lol

I can't remember it. But in 1997, I got stuck for 19 hours in a snow blizzard about a mile away from the exit. I got stuck just like every other car on the interstate. People were up all night on I-40 throwing snow balls, making sure other people were ok and had enough gas. I even walked a mile in a foot of snow to the store off of the exit to get food and something to drink. It was the weirdest thing, not being able to move your car, on I-40, nevertheless. I think the city started with a V, like Ventura. I don't know. It was a little east of Cookeville, but not all the way to Crossville.

For here...

I was going to Clackamas at Tualatin tonight, except I couldn't find anybody who wanted to go with me. So now I'm going to the closer Tigard at Southridge. I wanted to see Clackamas and Tualatin because they were headed into the postseason ranked 4 and 1 respectively, and this is only the second of five rounds. That's like Duke and Kentucky playing in the second round of the NCAA Tourney. Southridge and Tigard should be okay as well, Southridge entered the postseason ranked 10th and Tigard was unranked but received AP votes.

The other option is North Medford at Beaverton. Beaverton's QB, Kevin Riley, is a 4-star commit to Cal. The Vols will likely be playing against him in 2007. This game is expected to be very high-scoring.

The Iowa 4A State Championship game is on tonight. I'm watching it on tv. It's West De Moines Valley against Cedar Falls, if anyone cares. It's been a very good game thusfar. No score... middle of the second quarter.

That ol powerhouse about got beat tonight... but held on for the 28-21 win.

Of course, they faced a team tonight from their region in Friendship Christian that they only beat by 20 or so earlier in the year.
