I had the privilege of attending tonight's event courteous of being ranked in the top 50 for student rewards. We were row 3 with Dave Hart and his wife. Incredible event with some amazing videos of our recruits. Here's a few things Butch said that I thought others would appreciate:
He said he was going to lock down the state, and he is.
He said AJ Johnson coming back is the best signee of the year.
Talked about the Berry twins and how their dad cried when he walked on the field during their visit. Both came to him and chose their jersey numbers. One chose 41, 14 backwards to honor their brother. The other chose 29 to honor Inky. Both signs of their character.
Talked about how he wants Team 118 to be like McDonalds. That you can go anywhere in the world and order a number one combo and know what you're getting.
Said 90% of our recruits didn't even visit another school, and every signee attended a home game. Talked about atmosphere of fans being a huge tool in our recruiting.
Said our competitors know it's only a matter of time (loved that one).
Warned we are talented but not to set crazy expectations, that these are still 17 and 18 y/o kids. Talked about how Utah State will come to Knoxville with a first round QB and it will be tough for our young defense.
Said he wants 102,455 in the stands at the Spring Game. Said we need to send a message to the nation.
