Hines Ward wanting to coach at UGA

He was 0-4 vs Tenn as a player just like Kirby Dumb and Champ Bailey... and every other UGA player from '92-'99.

And what was your record? Against anyone?

He was also one of the toughest and most dependable wide receivers in Steelers history. While he was playing, he was a player coaches wanted their players to watch, and players wanted to emulate.

Article does not say he has been coaching anywhere. And it is kind of arrogant even from a player like Ward to think he should usurp an experienced coach just on his name alone. If I was Smart, I would have him around the program, but have Ward cut his teeth at one of the top HS or small college programs near Athens or Atlanta, or he could make him a grad assistant. Once he is proven, by then the guy he just brought in has time to be promoted.

I agree with your assessment of Hines Ward as a player... and that you are a little more sensitive than you probably need to be. It was an innocent comment (though a fact). Good lord.

The point Catbone and I were trying to make is the sun has risen and set many times since his playing days, and will not reflect on his talents as a coach.

And the number of wins? Ah....thought so.

The same number of sunsets and sunrises have happened since Peyton Manning played his last college game but how many times have we heard about his record vs Florida? That, as well as a reminder of how we used to dominate the leghumpers was my point.

OK, Spanky, you made your point. Forget that the topic at hand was not a peeing for distance contest on who beat who in the previous century, but suitability of a great player as a potential coach.

...and how exactly would one know that before that great player has any experience in coaching? The topic was Hines Ward and the response I gave was relevant to him.

My encore, as you put it, could never match the maturity or intellect that you are displaying.
