I hope CBJ realizes that both his Coordinators are average at best, and need to go. I'd try to hire Baylor's OC, and Stanfords DC. Pay em both 1 mill each. Would be the best investment we ever made.

I've been saying this since the beginning of the season. I was pretty sure "The best staff in America" wasn't hiding at Cincinnati.

Or go cheer for Baylor. That would be easier and it would cost the UTAD less money. They're in debt you know.. like a LOT in debt

Even if we had the money to that (and I'm not sure we do), why in the hell would anyone come here now? This is just a bad, bad situation. I love this team more than just about anything, and I'll be here until the end, but no way anyone in their right mind would come here . . . other than recruits that want early playing time. Go VOLS!

Unfortunately due to misleading title, your thread won't get enough traffic during this shartshow. But to honor it, I'll post here.

We have a good head coach. Maybe great- don't know yet. But I am confident of this: if he doesn't fire Bajokeian and probably also Jansick, then he sucks and has failed as a head coach. This is not overreaction and I'm not drunk. I thought we'd lose... and so did every one of you- if you're honest.

On Butch's watch, we've become the worst team in the SEC and it's not even close. We could definitely lose next week, but even if we win handily- we're the worst. We have talent that Stoops and Franklin would LOVE to have. Add in budgets, facilities, etc. and it all adds up to this: we are the WORST team in the SEC.

I will respect CBJ if he makes the tough but necessary decision to fire some of his buddies- er, I mean the "BEST of the BEST." They let him down and they are losers. Is CBJ a winner? Loyalty may be the end of Butch Jones.

Because they've tried to "get by" on the cheap. There is one way to get out of the doldrums...pay BIG money for a BIG TIME coach. Bama laid out the blueprint. We should follow it.

CBJ may be a good hire, but "settling" for average assistants won't cut it in the SEC. That has been proven over and over and over this year.

Pretty much sums up what I've been thinking the past few weeks.

It's like having the ability to hire who you REALLY want but afraid too because of "loyalty." Janzek might be a decent DC in the Big East, but that doesn't make him a good one in the SEC. Jones saw first hand just how much of a meat grinder the SEC really is. Average will get you chewed up and spit out.

Pretty sure we could hire Saban and find a way to lose 7 games every year. Its the new UT

Best post I've seen on VN in awhile :hi:

I just don't know if....A) Butch will fire his buddies, or B) Anyone worth their salt would come to UT

Yes! Would be great. I'm sure Briles will retain him though. No matter where he ends up.

Butch will absolutely not do anything with his assistants he is loyal and will go down with them. Plus the UT AD will never spend that kind of $$$$ on assistant coaches. Strap in it's gonna be a long few years.

You do remember that Saban wasn't their first choice, right? Rich Rod left them at the alter and they went with their backup plan,Saban, who was floundering with the Dolphins.

If Saban was hired here under the same circumstances, and had the same regular season record that got his predecessor fired (like he did at Bama), Vol fans would have burned mattresses claiming that the AD is a joke for 1) hiring a coach who couldn't cut it in the pros, and 2)who couldn't dump enough cash to get the first choice.

As to B): you are right if you mean it would be difficult to lure away succesful coaches from other schools to come here with our recent lack of success and history of coaching turn over.
