Are there any history buffs on here? What era of history do you prefer? Spanish-American War, Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War I and II, Korean War.

I like Civil War history but like World War II also and would like to visit some Revolutionary War battle sites.
I've been to several Civil War event/battlefields.
My favorites are Gettysburg, Antietam, Shiloh, Fredericksburg.

I like reading about medieval European history. Pretty much anything from the fall of Rome to the discovery of the new world.

I don't really like to study wars at all, tho i spent a great deal of time reading about Civil War politics. Revolutionary is the only justified AND unavoidable war, IMO. Studying them just depresses me.

Always enjoyed learning about the Civil War. Got to live 30 minutes away from Gettysburg my sophomore year in high school, and got to spend a ton of time checking stuff out there.

Going to Boston for vacation next week and looking forward to getting to see some Revolutionary War era history.

History buff here. I spend my time reading a lot of history. I have a BA in history from ETSU. I am currently reading a book titled "The Dark Valley" which is about the world's descent into WWII. Pretty good stuff. Earlier in the year I finished William Manchester's/Paul Reid's three part biography on Winston Churchill. It was amazing. I'm also trying to get around to reading Shelby Foote's Civil War trilogy. Hope I have added something to the discussion. My historical interests include The American Civil War, the Byzanfine Empire, European Colonialism, and Appalachian History.

Semi-history buff. Always enjoyed reading and learning about other cultures. I'm a UK student, hopefully graduating soon with a BA in history. Gonna go into the graduate program. I've enjoyed everything from Ancient to African to East Asian History. I've probably loved European History the most (mainly medieval). I nearly double majored with German, almost got into some abroad studies, but really spent the last year taking every history class UK seems to offer. Looking to get into teaching at some point, but right now I'm lucky to enjoy learning as much as I can.

One funny thing being a history major taught me, is that I shouldn't be surprised when other history majors say they hate reading/writing (mostly my 100-200 courses, not so much the 300+). I used to be sad to hear it, but now I just shake my head and laugh. A lot of great friends I have made, but a lot of people who think it's going to be easy. It really takes patience and time to find something you enjoy doing. A lot of classes you might struggle with, but most find their niche.

Love history. Was majoring in it but ending up going another direction. Civil War and the Roman era probably two of my favorite.

An ETSU grad! I went there in 1966/67. The Bucs just started their football program back again after 12 years.

My wife and I are getting more into US military history, we just Visited "The Hermitage" and had a blast! Ole Hickory was a nut but a great General, we are comprising future battlefield trips , Lin elementary school we visited Shiloh a few times and got fire some flintlocks, man how would parents act today!? My favorite military films are #1 "The Great Escape" , #2 "Saving Private Ryan" #3 "Patriot" and "Von Ryan's Express" with dozens of more. I'd like to see more revolutionary war films and Ghengis Khan documentaries.
Learn from the past, or you are destined to repeat it"

I preserve history by getting the nectar from the sector. I hardly ever keep the relics, but give to the property owner as a keepsake. Just my winter hobby.

Mainly civil war relics.

Shelby Foote is required reading for history buffs. You won't be disappointed. Definitely one of the most compelling works of historical scholarship to come out of the 20th century.

Right behind it, I would put William Shirer's Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.

I've always been fascinated by any wartime period in history, particularly the Civil War and WWII.

Also medieval times are interesting.

I started writing a screenplay, but this subject required a lot of reading about the history of South America. The more I read, the more interested and surprised that I got.
