List of Pg's signed last 11 years.

2002 C.J. Watson
2003 Dane Bradshaw

2003 Jordan Howell

2004 Chris Lofton

2006 Marques Johnson

2006 Ramar Smith

2008 Bobby Maze

2008 Daniel West

2009 Melvin Goins

2010 Trae Golden

2011 Chris Jones

2011 Wes Washspun

Only 2 have been good Point Guards. Others like Dane Bradshaw and Chris Lofton have been good players. Just not point guards. 5 players either never played or left the team after one or two years. We have had our troubles getting quality point Guards! That is for sure!

I don't think Lofton was every considered a PG by anybody, but point taken.

The other thing interesting about that list is how many were Spring signees after Tennessee had whiffed on primary targets in the Fall - Ramar, West, Maze, Goins, Washpun. When you are doing that lot, it isn't a good sign.

Ramar Smith wasn't terrible when he stayed outta trouble. Not 5 star worthy but fine.

Goins was a solid player. Loved his attitude and guts.

Trae just isn't a natural PG. He can be a pretty good player when healthy and his head is right

Chris Jones played? And Melvin Goins wasn't that bad of a PG.

I don't know, he was pretty bad once he got the starting job. Although without him we would have lost in the 1st round during the E8 year.

Good defender, though.

Loved his ups, dude could flat out get up.

He picked up a ridiculous T one game on a break away dunk, stupidest call ever.

I don't remember Lofton ever playing point guard. Under Pearl, Bradshaw played what became known as "point forward".

This is a position being magnified more every year. It's a glaring weakness on this team that sorely needs to be fixed going into the fall.

I would say Ramar Smith and Melvin Goins were borh serviceable PGs, but overall I agree with your premise.
