If I'm not mistaken that rule changed about 5 years ago. It was if any part of the player crossed, now it's if the ball crosses.

Who cares? If we fumble a handoff on the 20 or in endzone we still lose. They would have just taken more time off the clock. We had a chance to win but had to play mistake free. I am not blaming Jalen or Peterman or Lane. We, as a team, will get to the promised land. Gotta keep fighting and learn from our mistakes. Take our lumps now and its greener pastures ahead! Just hold on, keep faith in our boys and always root for the good guys in orange!

I know it hasn't always been this way and I was unaware it had changed when it happened. I was literally screaming at the tv.

The correct call was made by the officials. So I'm not making excuses and it was a great special teams play by Georgia. With all that said… I would assume both our offensive and their defensive play calling from the 20 and the playcalling from the 1 are most likely drastically different. Who's to say we don't throw an 80 yard touchdown on the first play?

We didnt exactly play it too safe if i recall correctly. I believe we tried that whole throw out of crappy field position but it was a little high for North. Then we ran like we had often on 2nd down. It was a great play by georgia and thats really hard to admit, but i dont think our play calling is drastically different no matter where we are. (think about 5 wide on the OK 2 yd line or the Peterman drives at GA)

That's a fallacious argument. You have no idea how the game would have played out if we would have gotten the touchback. We could have scored a TD on the assuming drive and put the game away. Just because we didn't doesn't mean we couldn't have. That was a HUGE game changer.

FTR, the refs made the right call.

There's no doubt in my mind we win if not for that play. We only lost by 3 and that play cost us 7. And we moved the ball very well with Worley.

Two problems with this assumption. First, the likelihood of a fumble go down dramatically if we have the ball on the 20 as opposed to the 1 with our backs up against the wall. Second, I don't agree that we necessarily lose if we fumble the ball on the 15 yard line. It is quite possible that our defense would have held them to a field goal in which case the score would have been 31-25. If the possession that we scored our final touchdown on plays out like it did in the actual game, then we take a 32-31 lead late in the game. At this point it's all academic. We need to improve to the point where we aren't having to play from behind in the Fourth Quarter and our odds will improve drastically. Here's hoping that we go into the 4th Quarter of the Florida game with a lead and that we hold onto that lead. Go Vols!

actually on that play a penalty could have been called. a guy hit
cam before the ball hit the ground...should have been 15 yds from the spot of the foul. that's the only thing on that play.

No it shouldn't. Can wasn't trying to catch the ball, he wasn't anywhere near the ball.

The only clear penalty they missed was the kid running with ball after calling for a fair catch.

I initially thought the same thing but have seen it a few times and have since changed my opinion. Cam was way too far from where the ball was coming down for that to have legitimately been interference.

I can tell you this... If the roles had been reversed and they had called interference on Tennessee in that situation, I would have been furious

doesnt matter...you can't hit a guy who calls for a fair catch, even if the ball is 100 yds away.

I think you could make the argument that the ball crossed the plane of the goal line before he controlled it.

There were a few bad calls in that game. Unfortunately, it's too late to worry about it now.

I was sitting at about the 25 on that end of the stadium. It didn't look to me like the ball got remotely close to the goal line.

The hit wasn't vicious enough to be called targeting and you can't call kick catch interference if the guy isn't trying to catch the ball.

Plus he didn't clearly call fair catch, he waved his arms low in a stay away call
