CBJ has exceeded everyone's predictions for the number of quality commitments for 2014. But those are verbal. Here is what I project to be our chances for signing those 3 Star Prospects and above come next year after this Fall's performance on the gridiron:

#of Wins/# of Losses and the % 3*+ Kept

4-8 40%
5-7 45%
6-6 50%
7-5 70%
8-4 or better 90%

Let me play devil's advocate for a minute.

Many people on here state if Butch Jones loses a bunch of games this year we will lose our recruits. One guy even gave his odds on here breaking it down per game. I thought that was cute.

But what if a lot of these guys are coming here because they think the current team is a bunch of scrubs and they will have instant playing time? What if these scrubs go out and win 8 or 9 games and suddenly the recruit believes instant playing time is no longer an option? What if winning actually cost us some of these recruits? What if?

I mean what if?

Thats a scenario I wouldn't mind. The recruits will still come, hell they'd probably be more excited to be a winner sooner rather than later.

Playing time, instant contribution, or whatever you call it doesn't effect Bama's recruiting. That program has talent 3 deep in the roster. Our wins will not negatively effect recruiting. It will only get better.

6-6 or better and they all stay. These recruits are committing to be the foundation of a new program built upon their talents. Anything less than 6-6 and we might have a few decommit but come on 50%?? You gotta be kidding

Nothing changes to the negative. We are still very thin and will lose a lot of experience after this year. Like Vol_51 said they would be more excited because the rise back to the top would me a much shorter one with their help.

Alabama has depth everywhere and has no trouble signing one of the best classes every year. Thats what we call a good "problem" to have

Much will depend on how the Vols play this year. If we lose to WK and win only 1-2 SEC games, many of the 2014 Commits will bolt for safer grounds unfortunately. If we knock off a favored SEC team it will help retaining 2014 commits immensely. Not many of the best recruits want to play for a loser.

Big time recruits want to play for winning programs, so you got to win eventually or we will be coach shopping again.

It will be like it always is we will have a few to defect, and a couple will be told to look elsewhere plus we will go in to someones kitchen and steal the dinner thats cooking, and when we steal it i think it will be steak, i hope.:)
