Here's the Reuters article on Obama's choice as Regulatory Czar. Link.

Do some homework on his views about animal rights and hunting. This is the kind of garbage that I was afraid of with Obama at the helm.

this is what is so scary about Hussein O. it's not the major bills that become law. it's the small regulatory mandates that will choke us to death and take away our liberties. socialism is here, all hail Hussein O.

The guy is clearly qualified for the gig, but he is definitely a nutjob about animal rights. An absolute nutjob.

He's actually not an overly liberal law professor according to what I've gleaned, but his animal rights agenda is scary. He actually believes hunting should be outlawed and meat eating should go the way of the dinosaur.

I absolutely love animals of all kinds, but to pretend the food chain doesn't exist is silly. Let people make their own dietary decisions, so long as it isn't other people.

Is anyone the least bit surprised??

I hope like heck everyone likes our "new direction', we aren't going to have much choice about it.

Peter Singer is a contributor to this book.

"After ruling our thoughts and our decisions about life and death for nearly two thousand years, the traditional Western ethic has collapsed."

"Human babies are not born self-aware or capable of grasping their lives over time. They are not persons. Hence their lives would seem to be no more worthy of protection that the life of a fetus. "

(who said that, Adolph Hitler or Peter Singer??)

The use of animals by human beings, often for important human purposes, has forced uncomfortable questions to center stage: Should people change their behavior? Should the law promote animal welfare? Should animals have legal rights? Should animals continue to be counted as "property"? What reforms make sense?

Cass R. Sunstein and Martha Nussbaum bring together an all-star cast of contributors to explore the legal and political issues that underlie the campaign for animal rights and the opposition to it. Addressing ethical questions about ownership, protection against unjustified suffering, and the ability of animals to make their own choices free from human control, the authors offer numerous different perspectives on animal rights and animal welfare. They show that whatever one's ultimate conclusions, the relationship between human beings and nonhuman animals is being fundamentally rethought. This book offers a state-of-the-art treatment of that rethinking.

Cass Sunstein and the Secret Animal Rights Agenda.

“Extensive regulation of the use of animals.” That's PETA-speak for using government to get everything PETA and the Humane Society of the United States can't get through gentle pressure or not-so-gentle coercion. Not exactly the kind of thing American ranchers, restaurateurs, hunters, and biomedical researchers (to say nothing of ordinary consumers) would like to hear from their next “regulatory czar.”

“Animals should be permitted to bring suit, with human beings as their representatives, to prevent violations of current law … Any animals that are entitled to bring suit would be represented by (human) counsel, who would owe guardian like obligations and make decisions, subject to those obligations, on their clients’ behalf.”

“We ought to ban hunting, I suggest, if there isn’t a purpose other than sport and fun. That should be against the law. It’s time now.”

(Since Sonstein opposes eating meat of any kind or the use of hides or pelts for clothing what other possible reason could there be for hunting??)
