Did a search didn't see a thread dedicated to your righteous home audio systems.

Anyone on the unending quest for the perfect system?

What you got and what have you tried?

For years (beginning 1997?) I've been an NHT speaker fanboy. Still use them and like the sound. Most of my amplification has been NAD.

All "mid-fi" - speakers under 2K and power under 1K.

Recently been moving up the value chain.

Some great used deals out there.

Had the bug for about 20 years. Tube amps, etc. Audiogon was the website I preferred for equipment, but looked at it a few months ago and it was mostly retailers. Probably owned 10 amps and 10 pairs of speakers.
Currently use JM Reynaud speakers(France) with Arcam (British) Amp/Cd Player. A good match.

I was all over that for years. Huge fan of Paradigm and Denon, for the money. Now, in my HT, I have a Denon amp, paradigm sub and surrounds, and dealer-proprietary speakers from a company whose name I can't recall. They do sound great, and my installer agreed that my ears would prefer the step up to their reference line.

Back in the day, I was a lounge lizard at Statement Audio in Knoxville. They used to carry crazy stuff like McIntosh, ribbon speakers, Rotel, etc. I remember when a home theater setup with projector would cost easily $50k. Of course, back then, we were all upgrading our cars too, with the Alpine speakers, sub box, amps, etc. Funny how I don't know any kids/ young adults with any interest in those things now.

I granbed an old Pioneer receiver, turntable and a pair of small Bose speakers from the estate before it got tagged for auction. Hasn't been used in over 10 years. Works great. Plays the old vinyl like it was made to do it.

Just picked up some ATOHM speakers (French company) on Audigon for about 1K - new they go for 4.5K. Running them now with a Marantz 40N (integrated amp with streaming capabilities) and Project Debut Carbon turntable. Also used as my "soundbar" for the TV.

Have a set of Dynaudio floor standers that just didn't do it for me. With the move to online retail it's getting harder to demo equipment. Going to unload them.

Also have a set of Buchardt P300 speakers that are really good for the money. Buy direct from the company in Denmark.

Finally, in the bedroom I use some KEF LSX powered speakers along with a sub. Mostly used as the soundbar for the TV but they have built in streaming capabilities so some music.

Part of the reason for a drop in car audio is that most new cars have an audio engineer as a critical part of the design team. Exhaust tone, engineered, sound of door closing. Engineered. Audio sound. Engineered to match the target market

I sold my soul to Sonos several years ago. Not the perfect home audio by any means. But works well for us.

I get where you're coming from but there is no factory sound system that even compares to having 2 10 or 12 inch subs in the back. My car came with an 8 inch sub and it's still not even close to what I was riding around with back in the day.

My Tesla has a great factory system.... but people don't hear you when you pull into the neighborhood, LOL.
