Never forget - CBS could have re-upped with the SEC, but passed on the price the SEC wanted for its deal, only to then pay MORE MONEY for the Big 10 deal. They made their choice.
It was CBS' fault from what I gathered, they really low-balled the contract to the point the SEC had to change. Sankey and his predecessor (started before Sankey) both tried to fix contract.
Key issue was CBS never paid the money for Missouri and Texas A&M and wasn't going to give the SEC much of an increase with OU and Texas being added as well.
