So far in CJH tenure he is:

At Home: 17 - 3 (8-2 SEC)
On Road: 6-7 (5-7 SEC)

We have beaten the likes of Florida and Bama at home and we have lost to the likes of Mizzou and USC on the road.

Winning on the road in the SEC is the measure of a great team vs a good team. CJH is playing with house money given all the success he has at home but it covers up a major deficiency in how he and his staff coach the team up for road games.

Going forward I look to our road games on every schedule and will pay particular attention to how UT does in those games because it's the real measure of progress of the program.

While we lost to the likes of Mizzou and USC on the road, we have also beat the Likes of ranked LSU and ranked Pitt on the road.

Gonna take him more than 2.5 years to build the talent back up. Heupel has shown he can develop talent and his recruiting has gotten better and better over the 1st 2 years. To simply do what he’s done with the team he took over is pretty remarkable in the time frame he’s done it in.

It is intersting, but the majority of those losses are from year 1 and this year, which wasn't/isn't good teams.

I do agree with this. Given the caps on recruiting, he can only turn the roster over and sever the ties to the Pruitt Players with time and time only.

Normally we always a say the new coach needs 3-4 years to get his guys in. Usually we don’t see that happen because the coach is ass. Luckily Heupel has done decent here and has guaranteed himself 5-6 years here

Huepel is also having to deal with scholarship restrictions for the next 4 years. We are losing 28 scholarships which is an entire recruiting class. When he first took over, every one’s expectations was a bowl game his 1st year. All of sudden he won 7 games and had momentum going into the 22 season. But even with that, no one really knew what the 22 season was going to be like and most people would have been happy with 8-9 wins. But he comes out and takes the country by storm and wins 11 games, which exceeded expectations. All of sudden we lose all that talent and most people knew we would take a step back. We are not at the point YET, to where we can lose key guys and plug and play the very next year and have no drop off. Our depth isn’t ideal to compete regularly with the big boys of the SEC, but yet here we are.

When you look at talent wise, we have 50 thee star recruits. Bama, UGA, and Texas have s combined 42 three star players. Only way to fix this is time, and the last thing we need to do is run him off. If it takes him 5 years to completely build this team then so be it. But if he has us in the playoff regularly after that, no one will care about year 3 and 4. What would Clemson be if they ran Dabo out of town after his 3rd year when they went 6-7? Dabo took over mid season 2008 and went 4-3. He followed that up with 9-4 in year 2 and 6-7 in year 3. Now we look at Dabo and the rest is history.

We are all mad we lost to Mizzou as we should. But the reason why we are mad is because of what Heupel has showed us what can happen. Heupel has also raised the expectations so quick that everyone is expecting this every year and they forget what he took over and he’s only been her: less than 3 years. If we still having these same issues year 5, I will say it should be time to worry. But after last season, I think Heupel has deserved to flip this entire roster which takes longer than 3 years.

Of the 7 losses:
2 are at Bama (Saban is 103-9 at home)
1 at UGA (undefeated since 2020 in Jax w/ UF)
2 at UF (UT has won 2x since 1990)

He’s only losing 12 going forward; we’re credited with 16 already so 12 over 5 years isn’t a death threat.

It is ridiculous, but many on here think that recruiting rankings have little to do with success…when the data show otherwise.

I expected 9-3 to 8-4 this season looking at our roster and the schedule. So I’m not surprised by the results. And, given the past 15 years, 8-4 is not a terrible season at all.

Heupel does need to completely evaluate our road game preparation, though. Too many struggles to ignore.

I agree with the preparation part 100%. I also do think some change needs to be made. But for people thinking it’s Heupel that needs to go, is flat out ridiculous. I do think Heupel needs to look at the defensive side of the ball. While we have had injuries this year that has been big, we are still making the same mistakes on defense as we was making 2 years ago. Something n has to change with Martinez and Banks at some point.

Pitt was ranked 17 when we played and had a Heisman finalist at QB. That's not meh.
Pitt was a solid win but ultimately you are judged by road games in the SEC. Those are the ones that define the good teams in the SEC and who wins the SEC.

I understand that. But still 28 scholarships since he’s been a HC. That’s an entire recruiting class. While it’s not the death penalty, that was the biggest punishment of them all. Losing a whole years worth of players is significant. Also it takes more than 2 years to flip the entire roster. Remember Dabo Swinney went 6-7 his 3rd year are winning 9 games in year 2. Good think Clemson didn’t fire him after year 3.

Please start a thread where you could have said the same thing in the other Fahr Hoopel threads. We aren't a great team. He's done a tremendous job of getting folks like you to expect greatness. That speaks to how great a job he has done.
